Most ironic, truthful moment from a "war movie"....

Movie: The Big Red One

Scene: US Army assaulting a Nazi troop concentration in or near an insane asylum where as the inmates are seated around the room eating their soup.

As bullets are flying - the chunks of concrete splintering - the blood spattering - for the inmates it's just "lunchtime" (like I said - they're "crazy")

In the midst of the carnage an inmate lays down his soup spoon, picks up an abandoned machine gun and lays down a withering fire against his fellow inmates killing nearly all of them. He pauses, looks at his weapon, and says "I am sane! I am one of you. I am sane! I am sane....and continues on the killing spree....

Yossarian: Those bastards are trying to kill me.
1st Lt. Milo Minderbinder: No one is trying to kill you sweetheart. Now eat your dessert like a good boy.
Yossarian: Oh yeah? Then why are they shooting at me Milo?
Dobbs: They're shooting at everyone Yossarian.
Yossarian: And what difference does that make?
Dobbs: Look Yossarian, suppose, I mean just suppose everyone thought the same way you do.
Yossarian: Then I'd be a damn fool to think any different.

Add to this the part in "Platoon" when the Vietcong put an arrow in a tree to tell all the other "Go this way" that is a chilling moment to watch for me. It is very clear that basically that is the whole plan throw bodies at the Americans and they will throw bullets and bombs back--use whatever you have the most of.
