Has Obama ever recommended that people reduce their energy consumption?

I haven't listened to and/or read everything he's ever said but I don't recall ever hearing anything like that.

So why are people so shocked and awed that he's escalating a war in a region rich in energy resources?

In fact he made sure there was money in the Stimulus Bill for weatherization projects to reduce energy usage. He has been talking about cutting our energy usage for quite some time now. Not just cutting it but changing it completely..

He has spoken wide and far, during the campaign and since he's been in office of energy efficiencies: higher cafe standards, weatherization of buildings, reduction of carbon emissions. Surely you remember how he was laughed at for suggesting that people inflate their tires properly to save gas.

No, nobody smarter than a potato is shocked by his willingness to escalate the war in Afghanistan. I'm personally against sending more troops to the ME, but I'm not shocked or surprised. I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make. If you're trying to say that an Afghanistan escalation is a bad idea, I guess I'm with you, but if you're trying to say that it was unexpected, then you're woefully uninformed.

Or maybe you're just trying to say that Obama should be caught on camera riding his bike to & from the grocery store. That would just be stupid, so I doubt you're heading in that particular direction.
