Giving Democratic Underground another chance
I’ve debated for many weeks about coming back here to Democratic Underground. Several people from this forum treated me terribly because of my spelling, my grammar, and even accused me of not being on social security disability. I can’t tell you how much that hurt me and for a time I had considered leaving Democratic Underground for good.
I still see some of the same practices are going on and even today I heavily considered not coming back. But there are some good people on here I enjoy reading post from. This is the only thing that keeps me interested.

Since I’ve been gone I’ve been concentrating on taking care of myself. I know there are a few individuals on here who have wondered what happened to me so I’m going to take this opportunity to update you about my situation.

Since I left, I entered physical therapy with a company called Baptist Milestone. There were some wonderful people who introduced me to the concept of working out in the water. Naturally, I was a little freaked out about getting into the water. I had two therapists that worked with me and taught me exercises that I still do till this day.

After three months, I’m happy to report that I’m doing much better. I’m not in pain that I’m used to. I’m now walking three times a week to continue with my physical exercises. To date, I have lost 20 pounds and I’m extremely proud of my accomplishments.

As far as my professional life, I’m happy to report to you guys that I’m in the process of pitching two television series to some producers in New Jersey who have taken an interest in seeing me do well. I have also teamed with a filmmaker who has also taken an interest in my projects. We haven’t even sold our shows to a network yet but he’s taken an interest in me because he wants to see me do well. So things are looking up for me and I have decided to give Democratic Underground another chance after being away for so long. It’s good to be back with you guys. I missed you all, but I seriously needed a break away from this place.

6. Yes, I remember you. Welcome back. There are very good people here on DU... intelligent,
thoughtful, reasonable and rational adults who are little by little returning to post as the detractors and disparagers calm down and/or disappear.

8. Hit the ignore on people who diss you
When you say "several people" you are talking, out of 150,000.

9. Glad you are here and doing well.

For DU, I try to use a sort of mental filter for thoughtful vs. thoughtless posters. Doesn't always work, but many familiar names have a track record one way or the other.

Hope you keep us posted on the professional work....

10. Congratulations on the health efforts, and welcome back.
I'm very happy to see you giving this place another go, and want to thank you for your thoughtful and painfully honest message. I know that I, for one, will try to give a little more thought to how my words might affect others in the future. Sometimes what is intended as a good-natured tease can be very hurtful. As to anyone who deliberately sets out to make another person feel bad, well, there are some genuine assholes in the world, and the only real way to defend against them is to understand that their mean spirits are their problem, not yours. You can get away from them; they cannot get away from themselves.

13. I am glad things are better for you!
For some reason people sometimes get wrapped up in their own egos, especially when anonymity is involved and it is easier to put someone down than face to face.

Welcome back.

17. water therapy
I joined an athletic club so I can do pt in the pool 3 x a week doing 11 leg exercises and 8 for my arms. I have Fibro and chronic Myofascial Pain (knots in the linings of my muscles). It has really helped my pain and has kept my muscle spasms to a minimum. I also do my walking in the pool with aquatic paddles to get resistance. It sure beats living on pain meds every day.

I'm glad it has helped you and am also glad to see you back. :toast:
