Sen. Bob Corker's daughter was carjacked in DC.

Washington (CNN) - The 22-year-old daughter of a Tennessee senator was carjacked in nation's capitol Wednesday night and two suspects were arrested a short time later, police said.

Sen. Bob Corker's daughter, Julia, was not "seriously injured," but "she is sore" from the attack, the Tennessee Republican's chief of staff Todd Womack said in an interview with CNN. Sen. Corker was back at work Thursday morning and the family is expected to pick up the vehicle this afternoon.

Julia Corker, who works in the city, was stopped at a red light last night near the Verizon Center between 9 p.m. ET and 9:30 p.m. ET when a person knocked on her window. She rolled the window down and the person was able to open the door and then "dragged her out of the vehicle by force and threw her onto the pavement and drove away," Womack said.

1. It's good that she's okay.
I hope for her sake that she can get some counseling, because something like this is a very traumatic experience.

2. Its a good idea not to roll your window down in the middle of the night
when a stranger walks up to your car.

4. Good thing she was just carjacked
If she had been raped, she wouldn't have gotten any sympathy from her father.

Yeah, I went there.

5. That's kind of shocking.
I mean, that's not particularly late and the Verizon Center's not in a particularly bad neighborhood (not GREAT, but no where near bad.)

12. I live here.
That area's not that bad, especially with so many people milling around at that time of night.

16. We were in the DC area three different times. Only the first time did we buy a home
in the District. Soon we were blessed a fearless home invasion coupled with nonchalant cops investigating it. Said cops seemed more concerned about the perps than the attack on a woman with children in the house. After that we knew that the inmates were running the asylum. We moved to Virgina from there, near a metro stop. Other times we wend directly to the burbs, the last time was Maryland.

I blame the DC's gun policies for much of this. The criminals have little fear of getting hurt. Out in the burbs, they know better.

7. Having survived an attempted car jack years ago.
The carjacker got the worst of it..I was working as heavy electrician and used to drag around 300 400 pound transformers all day. The guy got in and stuck a knife in my face. I had an old hot rod Pontiac that the passenger door would open from the inside very easily. I did the elbow to his solar plexus, reached past him and popped the door latch and turned left..out he went. at about 45 mph. Grand Prix 1969 w/455 cid engine..0 to scary fast in 4 seconds.

Ever after that I lock the doors when I get in and if someone wants me to put down a window..2 inches max, mostly I don't open up for anyone short of the cops.

When we bought this Dodge Dakota it had power locks , windows etc since we lived in So Fla where carjacking is a favorite hobby, the sales rep said that they could set the locks so that it would auto lock at 15mph so we had that set. I do not know how many other brands/makes have this option but it would be a good idea for those riding by themselves most of the time to ask your dealer or garage about the auto power lock set up options.

I am glad she is ok too.

10. I'm glad she's ok...
I got carjacked once... they made me drive out into the Everglades, then sucker punched me, pistol-whipped me and tossed me out of the car, left for dead... I made it out, walking for what seemed like 2 or 3 hours, in the dark, until I saw a light and found a house. Had to wake the people up to call the cops.... all I kept telling the cop was "I recognized one of them from around town, I don't know his name, but you better hope you catch the motherfucker before I do.."

I'm glad they caught the douchebags...

14. DC laws are so repressive
that they do not allow you to means to protect yourself.

Concealed means concealed.
