My phone call to "US Citizen's Association"
My Saturday morning TV news time was interrupted by an absolutely outrageous concoction of outright lies and scaremongering. An ad came on TV featuring a rapid succession of neo-con lies: HCR will for sure cut Medicare benefits by at least 25%; Medicare may, in fact, collapse entirely "denying care to hardworking Americans who have paid taxes all their lives" (photo of elderly man in wheelchair, alone, staring sadly out window): and, for the racists, HCR will allow "10 million" illegal immigrants to get healthcare while our Medicare patients are denied benefits (photo of poor Mexicans crossing border fence at night).

They identified themselves at the end of the ad and gave a toll free number.

You can find the US Citizen's Association with any search engine. In brief, they are one of the most PUTRID and unapologetically extreme and unethical neo-con front groups you are likely to encounter. They have been successfully sued by the Better Government Association, for copyright infringement, I believe---pretending to be the BGA in some way.

So, I called to 800 number and was soon speaking with a real person, male, who immediately asked to sign me up for membership.

"No thanks," I replied, "I just calle to speak to a real honest-to-goodness whore. I've just watched your ad about health care and it is nothing more than a collection of lies designed to scare people. You folks know that, but you broadcast it anyway, and that makes you whores." He was starting to respond when I said "Have good one, whore" and hung up.

I'd like to think I pissed him off half as much as the ad pissed me off, but I know better. That would require that he actually have a conscience and some residual sense of shame.

I'll be out most of the day, but will check this tonight. If thought appropriate, I could post the 800 # so others could call and "express their opinion" about this wingnut cesspool.
