Can anything be considered SHOCKING anylonger ?
I can't think of one thing other than if the word shocking is applied to electric terms .

I see shocking headlines all the time and hear the word used constantly but what does it really mean anymore ?

I feel after all we have seen and heard and experienced especially in the last 6 years that nothing is shocking anylonger . This is sad however real as it is . You can;t even say you are surprised anymore let alone shocked unless perhaps you see for the first time an actual shooting or bombimg or some other horrific act .

We either then go into shock and after a while like many Iraqis are forced to do , you go into a mode of blinded survival seeing this everyday .

3. Well, McKinnley slaughtered tens of thousands in a land-grab war
based on a lie about a terrorist bombing, the Galveston Hurricane in 1900 killed between 8000 and 12,000 people (no way of knowing for sure), and in 1927 a school board member in Bath Michigan blew up a school and killed 45 people, mostly elementary school kids, because he was upset that he had to pay property taxes to build the school.

So nothing has happened in the last six years that hasn't happened before. We're just the ones who witnessed it this time. And we have all been fooled by our history classes and a news media that edits out the uncomfortable details of life so as not to upset its viewers, thus preventing us from changing the future.

4. Even if we tried
I don't think we could have created a more disfunctional society even if we had deliberately set out to do so.
