Steve Pagliuca---A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing?
Edited on Sun Dec-06-09 08:39 AM by louis c
Steve Pagluica is a candidate for the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts. It's amazing to me that he could even be considered for this Democratic Primary by any self-respecting Massachusetts Democrat.

When his mentor, Mitt Romney, the turn coat, flip-flopping, union busting, self-righteous asshole ran against Ted Kennedy for the U.S. Senate, the toughest of Ted's fights, Steve Pagliuca's wife served as the campaign treasurer for Romney and Pagliuca campaigned hard for Mitt.

In 2004, when Massachusetts' other U.S. Senator, John Kerry, ran for President against the worst sitting president ever, George W. Bush, Pagliuca contributed $25,000 to the Bush campaign.

now, we are talking about a Democratic primary in "Big Blue", the most Democratic of any double digit electoral state. how can anyone take this guy seriously?

I see that Pagliuca has adds all over DU. I'm assuming they only appear on Massachusetts computers (although with this guy's Bain Capital wealth, anything's possible).

Maybe he has had a political Epiphany. I doubt it. In a recent debate, he said that the $25,000 contribution to Bush was something he regretted. But he did not sever ties with Mitt. I'm wondering if he by some chance was elected, but even if he is not, if Mitt Romney was the Republican nominee facing off against President Obama, would Pagliuca be with us? I doubt it. Everything he has he owes to Romney.

In closing, my DU Friends from Massachusetts (the only state to vote against Nixon in 1972) please vote this Tuesday and choose a progressive we can trust. Of the four candidates, you have three choices.

I wouldn't vote for him if he was the ONLY one running.

2. I have wondered about him...
I live in NC and I have Direct TV with the sports packages so I tune in to NESN and Comcast Sportsnet NE all the time and his commercials are always on, I rarely see a commercial from any of the other candidates.

10. He has to prove more than he can buy an election
in order to earn my vote.

3. This just more evidence of the infiltration of the Dem Party by Republicans
What's to stop Repubs from voting in the primary and making him the Dem candidate? And then what's to stop him from running and winning as the Dem candidate? WITH the backing of the DNC who will see him as a shoein since he will get Republican votes AND Dems votes by default.

And he will be embraced by DINOs as another "moderate" and the dismantling of the party from within will continue.

6. They'll be too busy keeping Jack E. Robinson off the ballot to cross over.

9. You took the words right off my keyboard!
That was my first thought. It's not bad enough they destroyed their own party, now they're coming after the Dems, too: DLC, Blue Dogs, etc.

4. I'm trying to find the article, but I read a month or two ago about his wife being
a big fundraiser for Shrub. . . . I don't, however, recall whether it was rumor or whether the article was well sourced.

I'll see if I can find it.

Personally, I'm torn between Coakley and Capuano in the primary.

Relax.

Coakley seems to have this pretty well under control, at least at this point.

7. He's spent millions of his own money to finish nowhere in Tuesday's election.

He is right out of the Mitt Romney playbook and shouldn't be trusted. Afterall, he supported Mitt in his run for the Senate against Kennedy. Mitt said all the rights things to get elected governor of Massachusetts and then when he cut his term short to run for President, he flip-flopped and said all the right things to Republicans. I think one has to say the same about Pagliuca. He sounds progressive but is he really?
