WTF do Petraeus and McCrystal think we are?
A freaking piggy bank for their war toys and status machine? Just keep plugging in the nickels to keep them on endless campaigns? I'm sorry but my respect for the military has greatly dwindled to near zip. Why is continuing on for another 20? years in this futile venture making us more secure? They are playing into OBL's hands by further bankrupting the nation. The Rs are always suckers for trying to look tough and would rather fight than talk but I don't understand this emphasis on military might.

1. They`re warriors who WOULD rather fight than talk.
We`re in it to "win" it, remember? Even if it kills us, bankrupts us or causes us to ignore basic human rights principles.

A right-winger called my place a few days ago. He`s thrilled about the "surge" in Afghanistan and says the soldiers are too. Says we need to kill more Muslims before they take over the USA. There are plenty of people like that out there and our leaders know it. They also know that citizens aren`t going to rise up in the streets like we did during the Vietnam War.

I support our troops in every way I can, but the "leaders" calling for more bloodshed get no respect from me. I`ve had enough. http://icasualties.org/oif/

6. "Warriors" at least may have some noble connotation. These men are not noble.

They are more like the war entrepreneurs in the early days of capitalism, when war grew corporate.

2. Yes, they do
Between them and Bernanke, there is not a whole hell of a lot of difference. What's more, We The People have done little to make them believe otherwise.

5. Sugar Daddies.
Congress loves war. The President appears to love war. The Military Industrial Complex loves war.

Go occupations! :sarcasm:

7. This Song Sums It Up...
Generals and Majors ah ah
they're never too far
from battlefields so glorious
out in a world of their own
They'll never come down
till once again victorious
Generals and Majors always
seem so unhappy 'less they got a war

Generals and Majors ah ah
like never before are tired of being actionless.

Calling
Generals and Majors everywhere
Calling
your World War III is drawing near

Generals and Majors ah ah
They're never too far
away from men who made the grade
out in a world of their own
They'll never come down
until the battle's lost or made

Generals and Majors ah ah
like never before, are tired of being in the shade.

War is their business...as it is with many large American corporates. The military/industrial complex is very much alive and well.

8. WTF is with them coming out with 'I agree with the President' statements?
The President is their CIC. It doesn't matter if they agree with his policies or not - they're in the business of STFU'ing and taking orders. How would any of them react if their underlings issued statements of whether or not they "agree" with having to get up and run 10 miles every morning at 5AM, or whether/if they "agree" with being re-upped on stop loss?

Jeeez.
