Obama is less progressive on taxes than Hillary or Edwards
According to the NY Times, he will rollback all of the Bush tax cuts for incomes above $250,000 while Hillary and Edwards both favor $200,000 as the threshold.

1. Honestly, that's not a significant distinction.

6. Seems very fine to me, too.
So the candidates grabbed numbers out of the air. Anything in that $200-250k ballpark sounds right to me, as a start. Before we leap for a label based on one preliminary data point, I'd like to hear what other taxes and tax cuts the candidates favor/oppose.

I smell a MSM framing.

2. I Think John Edwards Will Be The Next President
Edited on Sat Apr-21-07 02:38 AM by Syrinx
Barring unforeseen circumstances, I don't see how the Republicans could win next year.

And, in the primaries, I think Edwards is really well positioned in Iowa and South Carolina. And Alabama which will hold primaries on February 5th this time. I'm thinking he's gold here.

I think Edwards is the candidate to beat.

Love me some Edwards/Obama 2008!

8. Edwards isn't a real person?
Just because he's really rich and really good looking doesn't mean he isn't a real person. I think he is very genuine in wanting to make this country better, but if you disagree, that's okay too. :)

7. interesting analysis
I can see it going that way. Edwards does have strength in Iowa, and remember he came in second last time in Iowa. Also, recall that before Iowa Kerry was not exactly in the lead....but after Iowa everything snowballed in the press and he became the instant favorite in New Hampshire and it snowballed more from there. A similar thing could happen with Edwards, and this could almost instantly erase any leads the other candidates have in NH or SC or elsewhere. Right now, Edwards appears to be behind Obama and Hillary. I think Hillary's support, other than from her core supporters, is weak and based largely on name recognition and being presented as inevitable. Obama could very easily change that, and it appears he is closing the gap. In a few months, if this trend continues, Obama could be the front runner...and if this happens.... Hillary could be in real trouble, because she could not use inevitability as a tool and she could drop like a stone, as her allies drop her. Meanwhile Edwards will still be in the race. At this point, anything can happen. Any of the three front runners could win. If Obama is not able to become the front runner, then I think it will come down to Hillary vs a non-Hillary race, and in this type of a race the more contenders to split the vote will favor Hillary.
