Bankers Might Be Feeling Public’s Wrath — Literally
By Daniel Tencer
Thursday, December 10th, 2009 -- 4:13 pm

piggybank Bankers might be feeling publics wrath literallyA Los Angeles lawyer who had represented a failed subprime mortgage lender is found dead outside his home, having been shot in the head.

Three men allegedly invade the home of a former subprime lender, and are arrested after reportedly injuring three people inside.

Vandals target the home of the former CEO of the Royal Bank of Scotland, smashing windows in the banker's home and car.

Those are just three notable incidents of violence aimed at people who were in some way linked to the financial crisis that has unfolded over the past year. And while in many of those cases it's unclear whether the incidents were politically motivated, or motivated by financial issues, or just a coincidence, the cases fit into a pattern of escalating crime and violence in the wake of the recession.

Matthew Padilla of the Orange Country Register reports on a series of violent incidents in California in some way linked to the financial collapse.

3. Did they really think they could do all this unscathed?
I'm puzzled as to why it hasn't happened sooner.

If I were a member of Congress, I'd be looking over my shoulder too...

4. While Lenin was studying and writing at the Brit Museum,
and spending hours thinking, researching, writing, his newspaper articles, and the socialist (communist) newspapers intent on educating "the masses," the very top elites were becoming petrified with fear. They seriously believed that an uprising, a revolution, an attack by the masses against the "Haves" and "Have mores" was around the corner.

That fear, more than anything else, caused the creation of
a) workers compensation
b) british child labour laws
c) required maximum work weeks
d) required vacations and holidays
e) worker safety
f) minimum wages

Once we instill the same fear on Wall as they felt in London's banks, I suspect that we may have a chance at real change.

5. I think it's wrong to commit a violent act against another person or animal,
unless it's in self defense. I guess in a way this could be considered self defense, but I don't think that would hold up in court.

It just shows how cornered people feel, and the ones who are supposed to be looking out for us aren't doing their jobs. The credit card/banking reform allowed enough time for the banks to screw all of their customers over. The same customers who just bailed their sorry butts out of trouble.

We need to restore a sense of fairness in this country today. With the current (compromised) Congress, I don't think that's possible.

8. I think bankers need to be held accountable for their actions.
They oversaw this mess. They helped create it. They allowed it to happen.

Perhaps they should spend the rest of their lives working hard making money for the taxpayers they harmed, and the taxpayers who ultimately bailed them out. And they get enough to live on, but not in the manner to which they've become accustomed. (The yacht and Palm Beach house have to go!)
