Iraqis fear U.S. wall will turn them into ‘caged animals.’

The New York Times reports on reaction to the Bush administration’s “radical new strategy to quell the widening sectarian violence by building a 12-foot-high, three-mile-long wall separating a historic Sunni enclave from Shiite neighborhoods.”

The wall has already drawn intense criticism from residents of the neighborhood, who say that it will increase sectarian tensions and that it is part of a plan by the Shiite-led Iraqi government to box in the minority Sunnis.

A doctor in Adhamiya, Abu Hassan, said the wall would transform the residents into caged animals.

“It’s unbelievable that they treat us in such an inhumane manner,” he said in a telephone interview. “They’re trying to isolate us from other parts of Baghdad. The hatred will be much greater between the two sects.”

4. Iraqi bloggers response to "the wall".
http://twentyfourstepstoliberty.blogspot.com/

The LA Times today reported that the U.S. Army is erecting a three-mile-stretch wall in Baghdad to isolate the Sunni residents of Adhamiya neighborhood from the Shiites around them. A kind of a “separation wall” in the middle of Baghdad to show where the Shiites are and where the Sunnis.

This is a new fruit of the “liberation” of Iraq. The efforts of Iraqis and the hundreds of thousands of innocents killed are finally paying off. Enjoy it Iraqis, it is formal now. You didn’t want a federal Iraq, now you have a federal Baghdad!

What are they doing? What are the Americans doing in Iraq? Isn’t there anyone to say “No. stop it. It is not how it should be done.” ?!

WHAT THE F*CK IS THIS?
FIRST SOME IDIOT THINKS OF A MOAT (the previous baghdad security plan)
and now THIS??

i am having an insightful future reading moment now: allow me to share with you:

this plan will fail horribly as did the ones before it. why? because they are not going after the real "headS" of the snake, those hiding behind official positions and titles.

however, i also predict one successful outcome of this wall plan:
it will make life even more miserable for the inhabitants.
