Got up early this morning and turned the tv on.
An advertisement (ad not add) was on for the Coral Ministries about their Patriot Bible. They were promoting that listeners would find out how the bible was a part of writing the Constitution. Damn! These people need to be castrated and offered up as a sacrifice to their god.

2. Why do people turn on the television and bitch about the drivel they see there?
Edited on Sun Dec-13-09 08:50 AM by geckosfeet
You know 98% of what you are going to see is crap. You should be used to it by now.

But I understand why people get angry though. They pay at least $50 a month for a service that pumps the most vile and putrid shit straight into their homes.

5. Hey! I didn't say I kept it on that channel. I checked the local stations
to see what was on and didn't find anything worthwhile. By the way the local channels I receive OTA.

I finally settled on watching Animal Planet cause all of the other channels I usually watch had paid programming.

7. Why do people come to DU, read a thread and bitch about the
fact that someone wrote it?

It's as easy not to click on a thread title as it is to change the channel on the TV.

12. I don't think the complaint was that the person wrote the thread..
I read it more as a wondering why they turned the TV on.

In fact my comment was going to be "That was your first mistake", referring to turning on the TV in the first place.

13. OK, but the main complaint was that he wrote about it.
Whether people watch tv or not seems to be a personal decision, and shouldn't really be an issue here.

14. Not complaining. And the op more or less answered my question.
Edited on Sun Dec-13-09 05:10 PM by geckosfeet
I truly do wonder at it though. It happens ALL THE TIME!

Watching is one thing. As you say, when you walk into it knowing your are going to be fed drivel and crap why feign surprise and shock?

As I said, I can understand anger at having to pay for the abuse. But to be surprised that (shocking) there is shit on TV seems mighty naive.

10. Sometimes we hope to see intelligent TV
Even if that happened (seldom) it is hard to miss the commercials.
Hope they don't ruin Zinn for me tonight.

9. Maybe as a writing tablet
I can see Jefferson looking around for scrap paper to take notes with and scribbling in the margins of a handy Bible.
