www.qctimes.com then click on the story entitled "Haitian child rescued from infection grows to mahhood in QC".

Background for those who can't or won't click on the story. A man is a widower and former tavern owner who fell into alcoholism after his wife commited suicide many years ago. He straightened his life out, studied nursing and went to Haiti to help out. He ended up adopting a kid who was living in abject poverty and whom many had given up on. Great story and kudos to Mr. Harris, the recovering alcoholic who adopted this kid.
on edit- Actually the adoptee is not a kid now. He's in college and 21 years old.
on edit again- Oops. I guess I should pay closer attention to my own posts. The correct link is above. Sorry.

1. Well I thought it was kind of a nice story
Guess it was just too nice for all the nastiness that goes on in here. Or maybe it's just the fact that I posted it so no one will respond.

2. It's a wonderful story. Don't worry, people may be too busy Christmas shopping
and getting ready for the holidays so they may not be able to respond today.

People need to get out of their pissy moods. I understand the frustration and feelings of hopelessness, but it's not ALL bad. The story you posted gives us all some perspective.

Thank you!

4. Your link has a typo, so it doesn't go to the site you wanted.
Here's the story: http://www.qctimes.com/news/local/article_e9f90b98-e78d-11de-9f12-001cc4c03286.html

And it is a nice story! It may not lead to any discussion, necessarily, but it's still cool.

8. What a wonderful, inspiring story!

Thanks for posting!

How great that Mr. Henderson followed up. How many of us would fly to Haiti when we found that our designated child had not learned to speak English, as promised? How many of us would then take on all of the responsibility that Mr. Henderson did, to ensure that the boy survived? How many of us would have the courage of our convictions and insist that the doctors try and save his leg?

10. Thanks for posting, Bluzmann.
What a great story. Mr. Henderson must be so proud to see what has resulted from his kindness and generosity. He saved a life, and that life will in turn save others. Reading this story brightened my day. Thanks again.

11. A very moving story, had me catching my breath and alternately
crying. I'm surrounded by pink Kleenex's.
