Berlusconi Is Punched at Rally
ROME (AP) -- Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi was punched in the face at the end of a rally in Milan on Sunday, new reports said. The attack occurred as the 73-year-old Berlusconi was signing autographs near his car, state TV said. TV showed the stunned leader with blood under his nose and on his mouth as he was lifted to his feet by aides.

Berlusconi was hustled into the back of a car by the aides, but he immediately got out, apparently in an effort to show he was not badly injured. After looking out into the crowd, the aides pulled the leader back into the vehicle.

Sky TG24 TV said Berlusconi was taken to a Milan hospital to be treated.

News reports said a man, in his 30s or early 40s, was immediately detained as the suspected assailant and taken to police headquarters.

Witnesses told reporters the assailant appeared to have punched Berlusconi while holding a metal object in his fist.

3. Just saw that over at Huffpo
Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi was punched in the face at the end of a rally on Sunday by a man holding a small statue in his hand, leaving the 73-year-old media mogul with a bloodied mouth and looking stunned, police said. The 42-year-old man accused of attacking Berlusconi in Milan as he signed autographs was immediately taken into custody.

TV showed the stunned leader with blood under his nose, on his mouth and under one eye being lifted to his feet by aides after the attack. Berlusconi was hustled into the back of a car, but he immediately got out, apparently in an effort to show he was not badly injured.

After looking out into the crowd, the premier, without saying a word, was pulled back into the vehicle.

I think that some people actually DO deserve to be punched in the face -at a bare minimum.

Although it is great to be so rich and powerful that you are isolated and unaware of the victims you leave in a heaping pile of rubbish, they do exist.

Once in a rare while, these arrogant fuckers get a glimpse of the damage they cause, they suffer a FRACTION of the pain they cause on an hourly basis on thousands or more...

Sometimes it happens in the form of a punch in the face in the crowd.

18. OK, for argument's sake - the guy who tossed the shoe at Bush got his point across but hit no one.

16. I have to agree.

However, I did cheer the Iraqi shoe thrower. That was a different situation though...there was no chance of him seriously hurting Bush, and Bush was the military commander of an invading army.

8. Silvio got Fucked Up.
I heard about him getting punched earlier, and just assumed that it was a regular old punch to the face. But I just saw his face on CNN, and he looked like someone hit him with a fuckin' brick. That was one helluva punch.
