12 days until Christmas. Please, if you can, send a card:
Name:
Christmas for a little kid

My long time childhood friend has a very special 7 year old son (Nathan) that is losing his battle with brain cancer and the family has made the decision to not pursue further treatment. This will be his last Christmas and he has one wish ~ to collect a million Christmas cards. Spoken like a true 7 year old boy. Though he may not collect a million, a lot to him will seem like a million. If you would like help make Nathan’s Christmas wish come true, please consider sending a card. I know this will mean a lot to him, as well as his family. Thanks and many blessing to you all. Stephanie J

The kid is a friend of a coworker of my moms. Please help make his Christmas rememberable. Let us remember what Christmas is really about (Jesus). This small act will change somebodys life.

Cards for Nate

The community is coming together to make this Christmas special for seven-year-old boy from West Jefferson, Ohio.

Nate Elfrink has been battling a brain tumor since he was 20-months-old and after many surgeries and radiation treatments, doctors have decided there are no further treatment options.

His family and friends are trying to make his last Christmas filled with cheer and you can help.

Nate's wish is to get one million cards for Christmas.

You can mail him a card to his families home at 2415 Taylor Blair Road, West Jefferson, Ohio, 43162.

My other op on this:

I will be sending some out Tuesday this week and have hit up my friends on facebook. I can't do much of anything this year but I sure as heck can send a card.

His family prayed for a miracle but, this Christmas, would take just a smile instead.

"(Nate) looked at me one day and he looked upset," McVey said. "I said, 'What's wrong, Sweetheart?' He said, 'Will I be here for Christmas? Will I be here for Santa?' I said, 'Yes.'"

Cards may be sent to

Nathan Elfrink

West Jefferson, OH 43162

Donations can be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital's children's hospice.

2. I just read the other thread on this.
Life is harsh - especially when a loved one dies at Christmas.

4. Any recommendations on what to write on his card?
I have no idea what could possibly cheer him up. If simply getting a million cards will cheer him up, I can send something generic. If, however, he's reading them, I can't imagine what I should write on the card. Any suggestions?

5. Just send some seasons greetings and holiday love. It'd be difficult
to do more for someone you (we) don't know personally.

6. I just wrote one out
I simply said "Best wishes to you and your family now and always" and signed it. He is 7 years old - I doubt if he is going to be analyzing them too closely but getting hundreds upon hundreds of cards will let him and his family know that people care.

10. Thank you
It's good to know I don't have to think of something profound (otherwise, I'd never get around to sending anything).

7. My niece is sending a card too, keeping it simple:
"happy holidays and I hope you reach your goal!" with a goal of a million cards not sure he would see them all anyway :)

13. And forward this to everyone on your e-mail list...even if you only get five more people
Edited on Mon Dec-14-09 11:35 AM by salguine
out of everyone you know, that's five more cards...and you may get a lot more of your friends than that.

I have firsthand knowledge of what it's like to be a family with a terminally ill child, and I can tell you it would mean the world to these people. Please get it done.
