It's hard not to hate...
people like Joe Lieberman and other sycophantic corporate lapdogs. But I know that hate is not healthy. Most of all, it is bad for the soul. So I meditate.

As the Buddha said:

Victory creates hatred, defeat creates suffering. Those who are wise strive for neither victory nor defeat.

1. If you can, watch "Invictus".
Or think about something I read under a photo on Flickr

"What strikes me the most as I travel through (a teeny bit of) South Africa is how happy most people seem. Am I deluding myself? Certainly there are many angry people here as elsewhere, and especially anywhere with huge social problems. But I keep thinking of Barry Schwartz's Paradox of Choice. Here are people with so few choices....yet they can find joy in a warm day that heralds the end of a long cold winter, and in a crowded, unsafe housing estate that offers the possibility of comforts they have long dreamed of."

4. They socialize more than Americans do - Americans live in relative isolation
Am I correct or not?

5. Yes, they have extended families more than here.
But that may not have anything to do with it.

7. That's only 1 aspect of it. I lived abroad many years, in more than one country....
And people have communities, people have friends in the same neighborhood, people lend one another things next door. I leaned out of my window and borrowed sugar and eggs, and vice versa I lent things. That's how close people can be.

It's not like here at all.

It's a far more secure feeling.

Here, you're in freefall. All the time.

2. I disagree with them. That is not the same thing as hate.
I can't think of anyone I do hate, but there are a lot of people I fundamentally disagree with.

3. I so totally agree. This is one man whose b*lls I'd like to kick repeatedly with my high heels
Then I'd like to kick his evil @$$.

He's a GOPer in disguise, that's all he is.

6. I agree, I am disgusted and disheartened by JLie.
But, I cannot extend the blame to Obama like others are trying to do.

8. I can't either, but remember, those who blame Obama - some of them are GOPers inside DU....
the others are people who, while we had decades of Republicans in this country, did little or nothing to fight the Republicans, and did little or nothing to stop them from hurting our country.

Now, of course, they want all the GOP damage fixed in one day.
