Calm Down People--and Let's Get Organized
I think that all of us need to calm down. A lot of the provisions that had to be stripped from the Senate bill to please the GOP and throw a bone to the "Blue Dogs" may come back in the House version or be added in conference.

But perhaps this whole situation shows the need for funding and election reforms. Public funding of elections and real lobbying reform would mean that candidates and representatives would not be so beholden to CEO's and Corps. As well as allow for progressives to run more easily.

Instant Runoff Voting and Proportional Representation would mean that progressives could more freely vote their conscience without fear of handing a seat to the GOP. This would also mean we may have a case where a teabagger would garner enough 2nd votes to win a seat. But much like the filibuster, we need to take some bad with the greater good.

All of this ruckus must have Beck, etc smiling to see the Democrats showing the same fractures that the GOP shows.

That's how I see it. . . .

1. How? How do we change things? We are powerless as far as I can see.

3. No, it's not coming back in conference.
Lieberman's holding the bill hostage, and any attempt to readd the public option will cause him to filibuster on the final vote.

Yes, he can do that.

4. Everything...
.. is might or maybe. And then when it is finished, it is impossible.

Monkeys MIGHT fly out of my ass, but I'm not counting on it and anyone counting on this administration to do anything right is looking at some major disappointment.

5. It really is simple - Obey Obama
At this point what other cards do we hold? Now is the time to get behind the team. Now is the time that we claim victory for health insurance reforms that should have been law back in 1980. Now is the time we support the President's reform victory and move on.

We didn't get health care reform. We got health insurance reform. If this don't work we can try for real reform in the future..
