From Democratic Underground to underground democrat.

Many of us came here to be part of a group to help the Democratic party fight against the ruling GOP majority. An underground resistance.
But now I feel so betrayed by the party that I can only be a insurgent within, fighting back at our politicians who are screwing us.

I think blaming the party is wrong, I think blaming the administration is more appropriate.

I do think its the Administration and the Party Leadership. Not the rank and file.

SINGLE-PAYER NATIONAL HEALTH PLAN, one that covers all treatments without caps and covers all prescription meds without further cost to citizens.

Those who accept the downgraded mess promulgated by our own leaders would also be willing to accept wearing HALF a pair of pants.

Kill this bill as it stands now.

It seems any more that this site has divided into two camps; one which steadfastly supports Obama no matter what (perhaps just because there's someone with a "D" next to their name in the White House...who knows?), and the one which puts up countless OPs like this one because there's no other way to voice the dejection we feel.

I think that it may be time for the DU to adopt a whole new mission statement, whereby we don't throw our full support behind a candidate or officeholder unless that person shows a clear voting record in accord with real progressive principles. I personally am unable to contain my anger over health care reform and war escalation any longer. This is bullshit, and more and more of us are coming to terms with that. There's nothing "progressive", and by extension nothing "democratic", about any of this whole charade. I shouldn't have to feel like I'm doing something horribly wrong by coming here and commiserating with the scores of other DUers who are fed the hell up with all of this.

Just my two cents.

The Peoples Party Democrats, and
the Corporate Party Democrats.

versus

the Corporate Power Republicans.

Democratic Liberation Front.

I may go back to that.
