There is one good thing in the Senate Bill that I hope survives
and that is the proviso that insurance companies must pay out 90% of premium dollars collected towards actual services.

Should'nt that, in and of itself, serve to bring down some costs?

Everyone keeps saying that there is NO mechanism to bring down costs, but are they forgetting about this? Does this ONE thing make the bill worth passing? My only question is that I don't know if this only applies to the new non-profits the for-profits are supposed to set up to compete with themselves on the exchange or all insurance policies.

The Biggest problem with BOTH bill is delayed implementation. I don't understand how both the White House and Congress don't get that. People will be taxed before they see any real benefits and they will go crazy. 2013 is just not acceptable as a timeframe.

1. I could be wrong, but I believe that provision has already been tossed out.
I'm going by something I heard on NPR on my car radio while dodging black ice, blowing snow, and kamikazi deer waiting on the side of the road to leap out in front of my car in the early morning dark -- but I'm fairly sure that's what I heard.

2. I hadn't heard that, but that would make sense with literally everyone saying
there are no cost controls. I would like to know for sure though. ( I've had experience with the kamikazi deer - they are no joke!)

5. 90% is too low.
Making a profit off of creating human suffering is not something that should be encouraged.
