Will Marijuana be legal in CA? ... YES!
For those of us that have been working in the Marijuana Legalization movement for years, the goal may finally be realized in Nov 2010.

Legalization qualifies for the 2010 Ca Ballot.

The full text of the bill is quite awesome, including the expungement of many types of marijuana convictions from peoples records.

Marijuana is already decriminalized in CA and many, including myself, already have medical marijuana recommendations (Prop 215), but full legalization is an awesome prospect. I am very excited!

I do worry if this will be an off year for the liberal vote. With many progressives a little disenfranchised at the moment, they may hold back a little. I still think it will pass. Of course we still need to get out the vote. It is High Time for the prohibition to end.

The dynamic in CA is such that there is a large portion of the society that already accepts it as legal. With big city operations, continuous discussions, and even smaller rural communities actually virtually subsisting on marijuana production, this is now a much more accepted subject than it was when I began my marijuana activism in the 80's. Everyone knows getting Marijuana is now simply a doctors appointment confirming you have an ailment treatable by marijuana; frankly, most of us do have an ailment treatable by marijuana. For us, its legal now.

The financial benefit to an ailing state, the dynamic of medical marijuana, Obama Admin's discontinuing the Federal Harassment of legal clinics, the lack of good argument in opposition have created the perfect storm..and btw its not mentioned but I believe this may radically increase CA tourism as well.

So soon, in California, Marijuana will be fully legal. California will lead the way! Those of you in more oppresive states, get to work! The time in now. In the meantime, soon, stop bye CA for a visit and we'll toke one up!

2. I don't live there anymore--too crowded, which is why
this is so significant. About 10% of the nation lives in California. That is a huge step out of the stone age.

3. I'm happy for you
I live in a backwards state(ny) that I wouldn't trust to make a cup of instant coffee without fucking it up. Sux for me. We are real big on charter schools now though. Oh joy......

5. Thanks!
I know many are really upset today and for good reason but still wanted to mention this subject. When you've worked for years for something and its close to happening, I get a little excited!

7. Decriminalization
Decriminalizing it is definitely not the same as what CA is doing and people still end up imprisoned because of bud when it decriminalized, but its a great start! GL!

9. I'll vote for it!
Although it personally makes me too paranoid to use it, I know how vital it is to so many. As a revenue producer it could well be CA's saving grace.

10. If you can actually get all the kids who don't care enough
to vote off their lazy asses and vote it might have a chance. You will be fighting older adults that do vote and are scared that pot is like acid (refer madness movie did that).

and of course all the bible belt folks in central valley...

12. Very true
As evidenced by DU's "excitement" this evening; there is a serious level of Democratic base disenfranchisement. Hopefully the puke wankers, who will likely be out in droves, do not derail this.

There are those who are of the mind this should have waited until 2012, but that die is cast.

13. Never were at 56%
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 12:55 AM by Mick Knox
Proponents of Gay Marriage were always fighting an up hill battle. The significance now is that the level of legalization support is well above 50%

But I agree, I am not counting my buds before they mature!

17. Didn't you guys have a DA that was threatening to shut down the
medical dispensaries? BTW it's getting close in Colorado too. Denver is decriminalized and there are dispensaries everywhere. The end may be in sight for this battle...

18. It's about time I moved there.
I have to find a very rural area because I am a nature freak. Can't live in a city.

Anybody got any ideas for wilderness areas to live in CA?

21. Del Norte County and other far north areas
The California Oregon border region is extremely beautiful. You could move to Happy Camp, California, which has a great name, don't you think?

22. Thanks!
I already started looking. I would like to get a place bordering a national forest, like where I live now.

I looked in the Mt. Shasta area and everything is expensive. I'm going to check Del Norte now.
