Conference Committee
I have been thinking about this issue. With a House and Senate HCR bill that is so different, I have to think this part of the process will play a major role in the final bill and that what we are seeing in the Senate is subject to change. For those that might not be familiar with it.

If the House and Senate pass different bills they are sent to Conference Committee. Most major legislation goes to a Conference Committee.

Conference Committee

Members from each house form a conference committee and meet to work out the differences. The committee is usually made up of senior members who are appointed by the presiding officers of the committee that originally dealt with the bill. The representatives from each house work to maintain their version of the bill.
If the Conference Committee reaches a compromise, it prepares a written conference report, which is submitted to each chamber.
The conference report must be approved by both the House and the Senate.

1. We'll get an idea how it's going to go based on who is appointed to the committee
Not optimistic about this - look at all the "senior" good-for-nothing trolls the Dems have in the Senate.

3. I don't trust what will come out of any committee.
It may look a lot more like the Senate bill than the House bill.

And that is not Health Care Reform I can believe in.

4. What ever comes out still has to aviod a filibuster in the Senate - yes?
That could be problematic.

5. At that point they might be able to go the reconciliation route
and only require 51 votes

8. One of two possibilities

1) They have made a deal with Lieberman to let him have his hissyfit and steal the limelight and piss off the Dems but he has agreed that he will not filibuster the conference committee report

2) The committee will have to check in with Lieberman every 15 minutes.
