*sigh* Now CNN is getting in on the "War on Christmas" fun.

Heated debate again over 'War on Christmas' claims

Republican Rep. Henry Brown of South Carolina introduced a resolution this month asking that the House express support for the use of Christmas symbols and traditions and frown on any attempt to ban references to the holiday.

"What I'm afraid of -- if we don't bring some kind of closure to this continuous change, then in 20 years it will almost be completely different from what we see today ... and so we would lose the whole emphasis of what the very early beginnings of Christmas was all about."

So far, the resolution has one Democrat and 72 Republicans as co-sponsors. The House hasn't taken it up, but the chamber adopted similar resolutions in the past.

Yes. If we don't all say "Merry Christmas" suddenly, in twenty years, everyone will forget what the holiday was all about. We'll all stand around, scratching our heads, saying... "hmmm... I use to put some kind of tree in my house in December. I wonder why. There was once a story about a baby and a manger and a virgin. Can someone think of that one? What was that all about? I read it in some book, somewhere..."

The reason I even mention CNN is that they are reporting this nonsense as if it has merit. The report should have really been about the terrific waste of time and money such nonsense really is when we are in a recession, trying to pass legislation that will affect the wallets of a majority of Americans and the GOP has only this kind of stupidity to offer.

I think needs a raising of the old BS flag.

Here is my favorite:

Peter Sprigg, a senior fellow for policy studies with the Family Research Council, which promotes Christian values, said the "pro-Christmas side" has made progress in recent years.

In some circles, he said, "Political correctness is preventing people from even sayings 'Merry Christmas.' "

He said it's important to defend the right of people to celebrate the holiday and noted that December 25 is a federal holiday the government recognizes as Christmas.

Yes! We must defend Christmas! It is helpless against all those who seek to destroy it's true meaning! All the sales! The Consumerism! Running up the credit card bills! Oh... wait... that's not the enemy? We're mad because some people say Happy Holidays? Oh... ooops.

1. Is it already Christmas? Did I sleep for six days?
I thought Christmas was December 25. That's when I say Merry Christmas to my friends who celebrate that holiday.

Did they change the date?

8. Apparently not.
Of course, my favorite are the bunnies and eggs at Easter, since I know what those really represent.

3. Wait a minute...do you mean to tell me that Martha Stewart didn't invent Christmas?
I thought she came up with that holiday to sell her Gingerbread House Kits, complete with working interior lights and shutters on the windows.

5. Christmas shouldn't be a federal holiday
until we see a birth certificate for Jesus.
