Markos Moulitsas Slams Chris Matthews
“Markos Moulitsas had strong words for Chris Matthews Friday night on "The Ed Show," slamming the "Hardball" host for his recent comments about the Netroots.

"I don't consider them Democrats," Matthews said of the far left, "I consider them Netroots. And if I see they vote in every election, or most elections, then I'll be worried. But I'm not sure they're regular, grown-up Democrats. I think a lot of these people are troublemakers who love to sit in the back seat and complain. They're not interested in governing this country. They never ran for office, they're not interested in working for someone in public office. They get their giggles out of sitting in the back seat and bitching."

Moulitsas, who founded Daily Kos and whose name has become synonymous with the Netroots, responded harshly.

"In 2003, when Bush landed his plane in the aircraft carrier, and spoke in front of the banner that said, 'Mission Accomplished,' Chris Matthews had an entire show based on that event," Moulitsas said. "And he said everybody knows that we won the war, except a few critics. Well, I was one of those few critics. People like me in the Netroots were some of those critics. And it turns out that we were right and the Beltway conventional wisdom was wrong. And once again, we're in a situation where people like Chris Matthews don't learn from these mistakes. They're trapped in this bubble and they think that they know better."

Moulitsas defended the political activities of his editors and readership, and ended with a threat for Matthews.

"If Chris Matthews is worried about us working, and if he thinks that we're not Democrats, then he really should be worried, because he's got a thing coming," Moulitsas said.”

1. Chris "thrill-up-my-leg" Matthews wouldn't dare debate Kos
Or any real progressive.

2. Matthews is simply a blowhard and a boor
who likes nothing better than to hear his own bombast.

3. Matthews is a dirtbag.
The Netroots are far more influential than his piddling show has ever been or will ever be.

4. he hates the netroots because we can go back to old video of him
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 10:29 PM by Enrique
we can watch him declare, just because of that stupid staged falling of the statue in Baghdad, that "we're all neocons now".

He longs for the days when things like that would be forgotten, where he could turn against the war when it became unpopular and no one would notice.

He can't see any farther than convention allows him to.

Also, Mathews is awful when he makes predictions, can't read the future for the trees. I remember how he used to gush over George Allen and adamantly state he was going to be the next president

They're both emblematic of what's wrong with politics in our country - no real, philosophical opposition, just a conflict of personalities. I'm far to the left of KOS and I don't know what the Hell Netroots really is ... so I looked it up ... http://netrootsnation.org/about ...

They say nothing about any political issue. There's just the word "progressive" there:

"Netroots Nation amplifies progressive voices by providing an online and in-person campus for exchanging ideas and learning how to be more effective in using technology to influence the public debate."

Amplifying nothing is just a waste of bandwidth. They stand for nothing much. Maybe Tweetie was right;) or maybe they should both just take a hike.

We have two wings of the same party running things, The Money Party. Does Netroots make that point or does it just perpetuate the theme that the current system can actually generate change?

14. Netroots Became 'Their" Clever Term
Fringe is what they really mean, the out there nutters, the left version of teabaggers. Thus they, the netroots, can be easily dismissed. Can you imagine, you being to the left of Kos, what they'd call you, you commie.

15. Hey, I'm beyond even that, I'm a realist
Yeah, Netroots sits there as the foil, just like the "liberal senators" are the foil for the assholes who run things in that body. They dismiss them as impractical, too liberal, when their "liberal" solutions are just tiny modifications of a POS sell out to big insurance. Some say prostitution is a victimless crime (it isn't) but none could argue that political prostitution has many victims, 300,000,000 citizens.

It's Christmas to lets reflect on this - Jesus was a political radical opposing the most powerful empire the world ever knew. That's something to celebrate!

23. Chris Matthews wanted to have sex with Peggy Noonan so bad a few years ago, it was obvious.
He used to leer at her when he had her on his show as a guest.
Of course, he leered at Ann Coulter too, so that ain't saying much.

24. Matthews is a Reagan-Bush-Bush Republican. He has no right to judge who's a Democrat
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 06:51 AM by leveymg
He had this religious conversion thing in 2006 or 2007 when he realized that the GOP was headed for the wilderness. His public identification with the Democrats is just a pose and nostalgia for JFK and Lyndon Johnson. He panders to the viewer, and strikes a posture as a cynical everyman.

Chris Matthews is no more a real Democrat than NBC's corporate owner, General Electric, wants him to be. He is GE.
