1. Shouldn't the three kings be able to pass laws to create jobs
between them? That would do more to fix the problems than giving donations once a year.

But then I guess that's an un-Christian way of seeing things. They do seem to believe it's their duty to donate a little to help the needy but that a law to actually fix the problem is some major sin against God's will.

2. This comment almost
ruined it for me. I support the sentiment in the cartoon, which has nothing to do with job creation or assuaging a bad conscience.

But I understand your anger.

4. I believe in donations and good will actions but today's screaming Christians
Have my teeth on edge. I'm sorry to almost ruin it for you here since I was really asking a simple question that even a child might ask. I've been turned off the crass commercialism of Christmas for decades and finally stopped doing the traditional crazy spending when there were no more children in the family. I apologize

5. Apology accepted...yet ...
I do not know a child that would ask about "why the three kings of Bethlehem did not pass laws to create jobs between them."

And I know some really clever children.

Also, in the spirit of Fitzsimmons' cartoon, and being aware of the request we had to donate to the Hungry right here on DU, your concerns were simply misplaced.

I'm sure your comment of not doing the "traditional crazy spending" did not extend to charitable giving.

6. The answer is in my post
I thought you said you accepted the apology? Do you always follow your acceptances with a lecture? One I don't need by the way, nor do I welcome or accept. I'm too old to get lectured by anyone.

9. Something good did come of it
We're both too old and we both apologized. I'm fine with that.

Peace

7. Why did you need an apology? The poster was right: the kings could change things and they don't.
I don't care if my leaders show up at a Toys for Tots for a photo op. I DO care that they pass laws that protect the lives of people.

It's ok that you want to feel warm and fuzzy, but others are not going to have the same reaction to this cartoon as you do.

3. This year, we gave no presents, instead did donations.
It felt pretty good.
Of course, the "donation" to roofer to fix a leak after weeks of rain, that was not on "the list". LOL.
