16. "wacky, new age"??
Ummm..it's actually as old as Earth..or at least, since 2-leggeds have been around..
;)

I lived off the grid for many years, I'm still 'suspicious' of indoor plumbing.
Awww, back in the day, goin' potty was ALWAYS an ADVENTURE! One o' the best was discovering a huge Owl in the privy. FUN stuff.

13. Those are great webcams
It's been many years since I've visited Galveston. I loved the history and Victorian homes there. How has the area recovered since the hurricane?

Thanks for the link. :hi:

19. "Well, Pardner, that's toooo long!" ;)
Galveston is STILL Beautiful, but still struggling, lots o' challenges.
The East end, where the Victorian houses are,to the Strand, the ole downtown, was 4'-20' under water, but slowwwly recovering/coming back..
Population down, estimated 10-20% fewer than pre-ike. Businesses, dealing with ike AND the recession.I think the phrase 'emotional roller-coaster' applies to most Islanders.. bad lows & big-A highs..LIFE!
Galvestonians are amazing, awesome People.. coming back, stronger & better than ever..but less tolerant of bs. ;)LOTS of anger at guvment, fema, insurance cos. Honoring the History IS a big deal, & post-ike, there's a whole new chapter to write.
Fishin' is goood, & the sun rises & sunsets, & hours in between, are Wonderous!
REALLY goood time to buy property,if You've got a pioneering Spirit..I HOPE(!) You visit the webcams lots, till You can visit in Person.
Are Ya packin',yet?

20. thanks for the info
Glad to hear that things are coming back after Ike. I'd love to return someday. We used to visit Galveston when we were in Dallas for 3 years. Now that we're back in AZ, we head to CA in 6 hours for our ocean fix. :)
