Fox News on the Crow Rove thing--'Out of her mind or is one sheet fine?"
http://www.newshounds.us/2007/04/23/fox_friends_make_fun_of_sheryl_crow_praise_karl_rove.php

Sheryl Crow and Laurie David have been doing their Stop Global Warming Tour for the past two weeks.

Apparently there was a row with Karl Rove at the White House Media Dinner.

The Fox and Friends crew continued to put down Sheryl Crow (spelled incorrectly on the crawl as Cheryl Crow) by taking one way she said we could consume less paper by using less toilet tissue. They even had it as their question of the day, 'Out of her mind or is one sheet fine?" Of course everyone who called in said that Crow was wrong and didn't know what she was talking about.

The Fox & Friends gang carried on the segment into the next hour. Gretchen Carlson asked if she (Sheryl Crow) had a meltdown when she confronted Karl Rove. (Just the wording is detremental to Sheryl Crow) Carlson said they were going to have a fair and balanced debate on the subject.

The problem was when Steve Doocy introduced the two people for the 'fair and balanced debate' he called David Corn a Democcratic Strategist who then told Doocy he was not a Democratic Strategist, he was a journalist. The Republican Strategist was Nancy Pfotenhauer. Corn said that he didn't see anything wrong with Sheryl Crow approaching Karl Rove at the Media Dinner. Pfotenhauer said that they (Crow and David) had crossed the line and Rowe was a pretty cool customer. She added that what Crow "lacks in common sense she makes up in enthusiasim."

Comments: All in all a very biased report against Laurie David and Sheryl Crow. They made fun, used ridiculous questions, pretended to use a Democratic Strategist and just came down on Karl Rove's side in the whole situation. Kilmeade even went as far as saying what a good dancer Rove was. Give me a break. Where Fox and Friends were reporting that Sheryl Crow grabbed Karl Rove, the Huffington Post is reporting that she just reached out to touch him. The point is that Sheryl Crow and Laurie David are environmentalists and we know how the administration feels about this. As the administration goes, so does Fox News.

We report you decide.

5. As I said on another thread-Rove has to be the only man who ever said this
"Don't touch me" to Sheryl Crow???

It's a "TELL"

21. C'mon, did she say "one sheet" or did she say, as I can only find,
"less". The "one sheet" came from the Fux commentator, and people here are accepting it at fact.

All she said was use less of those things you have to use. I p/t at a movie theater and see people taking huge handfulls of napkin for their over-buttered popcorn, most of which wind up unused on the theater floor. She used the TP example as more graphic, getting more attention, but it means the same thing. Don't waste it, don't take more than you need.

Sheesh.

26. according to the bbc
she said "one sheet".

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6583067.stm

Crow has suggested using "only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where two to three could be required".

31. I guess you don't realize that not everyone uses
toilet paper. Many countries have different ways for taking care of bodily needs. For example:

Using water to clean oneself, in lieu of toilet paper, is common in India and Muslim countries, where people use their left hand to clean themselves and their right hand for eating or greeting (in parts of Africa, though, the converse is true, and a right-handed handshake could be considered rude). The use of water in Muslim countries is due in part to Muslim sharia which encourages washing after defecation. It is not uncommon to find Indians and Middle Eastern people express their disgust for the use of dry toilet paper as they doubt the effectiveness of just wiping with toilet paper and feel it is impossible to completely clean one's bottom and washing is absolutely necessary. Toilet paper is not as rare today in these households, but in many countries, a hose with a water sprayer (called a "muslim shower" or a "health faucet") or a pail of water is found instead of a water sprayer. In Northern India and in Japan, a nozzle placed at rear of the closet aims a water jet to the bottom and serves the purpose of cleaning. However this arrangement is common only in "Western" toilets, not in the traditional toilets.

I called this one the moment I heard of the confrontation...Faux would get the knives out for Sheryl and Laurie with every stereotype they can come up with. I suspect we'll get the "L" whipser campaign...ya know...they kinda looked real close ya know (whisper whisper) and then the other "buzzwords" Faux loves to use to demean and insult people who have no means to defend themselves. Yep, they're real gutless wonders over there.

7. "crossed the line"!!
What does "crossed the line" mean anyway??
Are "regular" citizens not entitled to question the mighty and all-powerful wizard?

And why does this country still tolerate a Karl Rove anyway?
Why does the administration protect this guy with the same zeal as the arrogant vp or idiot-in-chief?
I can only keep hope that this criminal enterprise will eventually be exposed once and for all.

8. Thinkin Rove slipped back into the days when he was not a 'cool kid' in school
Sounds like he had an emotional flashback to a time when he was treated like a regular human being instead of the super-human gangsta he thinks he is.

Bet he had dreams of showing up for class in his Batman jammies and finding there was a pop quiz on a subject he had never studied.

Then, in a rage, the Penguin called FOX and gave them orders to destroy Crow. But the dreams will continue, unabated.

32. Of COURSE she was joking. There must a mass malfunction...
around here of sarcasm meters.

The end of her essay pretty much gives this away, where she says her brother said, "Yeah, that's a great idea. And you could take it even further by just washing the one square and reusing it." It's a fucking PUNCH LINE, for crying out loud.

17. I'm waiting to hear calls for the end of skiing/man-made snow/cutting down forests
(and I'm married to a skier); the end of NASCAR/F1/etc/., because of the insane waste of fuel (and I love my Formula 1 Alonso); cruise ships (incredible use of fuel), esp. those to "nowhere" (can't claim "business travel"---unless you're in the cruise business); PLASTIC everything, esp. so-called "anti-shoplifter" unbreakable packaging; etc.

And there are FAR more egregious wastes of paper than TOILET PAPER! Is Crow NUTS? I agree with FOX on this one. Maybe a man can see her point, but I sure can't. One sheet is the equivalent, in RL terms, of using one's hand.

(I think it's a joke.)

"I propose a limitation be put on how many sqares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required."

42. Why not use old magazines or newspapers, or even leaves?
Obviously the woman was not joking, she did not miss-speak and mean one sheet less--it is repeated on her website. But I would rather see her push the use of recycled household paper or leaves cut from the yard than the inane supposition that one sheet of toilet paper is going to be hygienic enough for anybody. Even Rosie is laughing at her about the comment.

and I think when you get 2 whacko's trying to talk to each other, well you just sit back and laugh at both of them.

I believe she does want to help save the environment, but you don't influence people by being so outrageous in your beliefs that people think you are whacko.

Heck, I believe one square of toilet paper is too much! Why isn't she using leaves and really recycling? :silly:

39. I don't know about you, but next time I'm on the can,
I'm gonna cut back. Every square counts. If every person cut back a couple of squares, well, you do the math. I doubt I can get by with one, but I will be more careful not to waste. Fox just wants to ridicule, regardless, because they are on the wrong side of the environmental issues. By saying "use one square" she has got fox doing her work for her. they think they are winning because they think it is funny, ha ha ha, but they are 7 year olds. The seed is planted. Try to go to the bathroom and not think of "one square".

Good idea Sheryl.
