I just received an email from "whitehouse.gov" thanking me for my comments. But I never wrote them!
This has me concerned. Is some Wing-nut sending comments to the White House using my email address? Between my blog and email circle, who knows who's misrepresenting themselves as me?

On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence.

We appreciate hearing your views and welcome your suggestions.

Due to the large volume of e-mail received, the White House cannot respond to every message.

Thank you again for taking the time to write.

Now, certainly I'm not fan of this WH, but I'm not stupid enough to send them ANY correspondence. If someone is sending them God-knows-what in my name with my email as the return address, that's serious business!
:dilemma:

1. Apparently, I'm not the first.
I found the following line in the header:

X-Authentication-Warning: esgeop03.whitehouse.gov: smadmin set sender to comments using -f

A quick Google Search on "esgeop03" shows several results of others complaining of the same thing. So be on the lookout.

2. Did you look atthe complete message headers?
Could be a spoof.

I wouldn't worry too much. If it were me, I'd toss them in my spam filter. ;)

3. Did you sign the petition...
...I think it was a Move-On petition a few weeks ago. I received a 'thank you' a couple of days after I signed. (yeah, like they actually read and reflect on anything that comes across their computer screens... :eyes: )

5.  I occasionally get undeliverable e-mail notifications for things-
all spam, I suspect, so far-that I never sent. Since they seem to come in small bunches, I have to think that someone is spoofing and managed to do so using at least a part of my email address. Unfortunately, it's my primary email address, so I cannot change it without completely dropping my present setup and signing up with a brand new account and address.

Even the spam has gotten so bad that I had to change the way I filter mail and allow only those in whom I have listed in an address book. The republicker congress is responsible for a large part of this crap with their allowing spammers to continue operating, unabated, when they had the opportunity to do something about it.

I am rapidly becoming totally disgusted not only with the pooplican leaders, but also with the blind idiots who haven't the self respect to abandon that bunch of thieves and criminals.

6. They must have sent a group email to everyone they're wiretapping.
It could happen in any busy office.

7. Yes, GOPer organizations do it all the time
They use other's email addresses to make it seem the response to an issue is much larger than what it really is. Usually the rabid fundies are the culprit.
