Orlando Motorists Pay $4 For Gallon Of Gas
AAA: National Gas Average Is $2.87

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The average price of gasoline may have jumped through the U.S. but nothing like the spike seen at a gas station near the airport over the weekend.

The Problem Solvers found a Chevron gas station in Orlando near the airport charging $4 for a gallon of regular.

"I was shocked," motorist Cindy Confer said after purchasing $4 gas. "I was thinking we should have gone down the road."

"You didn't stop to look before you started pumping?" Local 6's Mike DeForest said.

"I looked out here," Confer said.

Local 6 reported that the prices were not put on any signs at the business.

3. I live close to the Orlando airport...
and prices are running around $2.82. This is a gouge.

The gas stations around the attractions (Disney, Universal Studios) often are $.50 more than the rest of the area.
Last year, Disney kicked Exxon out and brought in Hess. One of the requirements was that they could not charge more than prevailing rates. Hence, inside the Disney gates, gas prices are fair. Go outside, and it's a jungle.

4. near airport = rental car returns
which have to be filled up before you can return them. so you have a captive customer base of tourists that cant do anything about it, and arent likely to complain to the local authorities because they have a plane to catch.
