Linking to DailyKos diaries is childish
Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 11:38 PM by mcablue
We have tons of members who support the Senate bill in Democratic Underground. Likewise, we have tons of members who oppose the Senate bill in the Democratic Underground. Why, then do we feel the need to link to anonymous diaries of the Daily Kos?

Why not link to other DU threads? There has been an explosion of "A DailyKos diarist says something I like" threads. Yes, Markos Moulitsas is one of the leading figures of the progressive movement. But that is Markos Moulitsas. A link to Markos Moulitsas would be useful. A link to Paul Krugman or any other renowned journalist or blogger would be useful. But we are linking to diaries coined by anonymous nicknames just like us.

Do Daily Kos diarists go around linking to what we DU'ers have to say?

Are anonymous Daily Kos diarists somehow Owners of the truth or more well-qualified to talk about the issues than we are?

3. Why not? You could say it, and I would say it's childish to change the subject
There's freedome of speech here.

this is a privately owned/run board with discriminatory rules about participation. as it should be for a board that caters to democrats.

2. Beats just copy-pasting and not giving credit where credit is due
and some people are registered and posting on more than one site...

5. Good information is good information, regardless of where it is.
Kicked, but unrecommended.

7. If there's a really great Kos diary
I can see linking to it, and vice versa over there. Sometimes I'm really glad when someone does that. I agree it's been pretty frequent lately though, and not always very extraordinary posts.

8. When I see a thread on another site that is worthy of being linked, I link it.
This is not some kind of race or competition. If a Kos diary has an entry that is powerful or provides a unique insight or perspective, what is the problem with linking it? In addition some prominent people aside from Markos have diaries there and not here.

I really don't understand your issue.

10. Yes, KOS diarists link to DU
Is the opinion of a person more valid if that person is well-known? What happened to the idea of a people-driven media?

I don't mind DUers linking to KOS diaries. If I disagree with the statements of the diary, then I have no problem expressing my disagreement here. Heck, when I'm feeling perky I'll even go over to KOS and fire up my account just so I can express my sentiments on site.

I understand your frustration. DUers are riled up these days and there's a lot of animosity being thrown about. It's not KOS' fault. It's not DU's fault. There's a lot going on and people are passionately fighting to be heard.
