Poll question: The one word that defines the decade (from 2000-2010)
If you had to define the decade (from 2000-2010) in one word (i.e., the ____ Decade or the Decade of _____), which of the following best describes what that word would be?

For me it was Greed. Greed drove so much of the last decade from the wars bu$h started to the financial meltdown, it all was driven by greed.

What do you think defines the last decade?

19. Wasted
Edited on Wed Dec-30-09 11:50 AM by Jamastiene
We started this decade with a surplus, a safe Social Security, peace, hope for the middle class, and hope to have the great next Democratic president who is still a statesman to this day(and really did win in 2000 even though Bush stole it).

Now, we are left with the Great Recession and no hope for recovery any time soon. Maybe in a few years, things will get better, but for now, nada.

The past decade was THE definition of waste.

We saved all that money up and the Republicans just came in and wasted every last penny and then some killing Muslims and for what? We have NOTHING to show for it. Not one of the bombs dropped has changed anyone's mind to love America who didn't already. If anything, it has made them hate us even more than they did before.

Greed would define this decade very well too, but I cannot overlook the extreme amount of waste; wasted savings, wasted money, wasted opportunities for diplomacy, wasted opportunities for more peace and prosperity, wasted opportunities to fight global warming, wasted opportunities to save our forests, wasted opportunities to clean up our planet, wasted opportunities to clean up our water (I still remember when they upped the ppm of arsenic in our tap water as still being a "safe level" lead too, and as predicted people are dumber than ever), wasted everything. So much time, energy, effort, opportunities, and money wasted...wasted wasted wasted.

42. Bingo
That's what the root of it all is. From the stolen election, to the Biggest Fucking Lie In The History Of This Country which happened 9 months into the Chimpministration - and everything they used that lie to justify since then. Right up to this crime being passed off as "health care reform" even as we speak. Corporatism is to blame for all of it. And until we face that reality, nothing will change. :evilfrown:
