Rachel is STUNNING tonight. Anybody else notice how confident she is lately? She is REALLY getting
in their face! (republi-cons, that is)
Telling like it is and being BOLD about it. (and intelligent, I must say)

She is fast becoming my favorite.

I love that she neither spoon feeds her audience nor sugar coats anything.

9. i'm not watching anymore, but i agree.
I had Keith Olbermann on during his hour and caught the first part of Rachel's show. (I'm watching Aliens on AMC now, lmao.) I was impressed at how at ease she seemed. I've always liked her.

10. There's only one Rachel. And she has a hundred times the integrity
of any of those DLC hacks that wish she and all us "partisan superfans" would go away.
She puts them to complete shame, saying what they would never dream of saying.

My son got it because everything at home stopped when Rachel came on. Can't miss even a syllable of analysis.

I Heart Rachel.

I Respect Rachel.

16. Dare I say it...
Rachael Maddow is potentially the Edward R. Murrow of our time. It's been so long since anyone has come close to
carrying that torch.

17. No one else comes close.
She makes Keith look like a bad comedian. It's pretty much her and Bill Moyers, and I've never seen Moyers confront these guys the way she does.

19. My mom loves her
Edited on Wed Dec-30-09 09:51 PM by Triana
Mom is 82. Pretty cool.

BUT - Mom also loves the stinking HIR (Health INSURANCE Reform) bill - EVEN though it tosses women under the bus re: reproductive health (and Mom is purportedly a feminist). I got into an argument with her about that. She thinks this 'reform' is going to help her. She is of the 'well, just get it passed and we can fix it later' camp.

Ummm. I don't think so.

Anyway, she loves Rachel so kudos to Rachel and Mom for that.

22. K & R - I watch Rachel every night. She is a must watch.
Every night at 9PM EST I watch Rachel. I might occasionally watch Hardball or Countdown, though this gets rarer and rarer. However, Rachel - I have to watch her.

She's perfect in so many ways.

1. She is strong in her positions but she's also fair. She doesn't try to be mean to people who disagree with her, and attempts to give them a chance to speak openly. She knows she doesn't have to be mean because the facts are on her side, and she uses those facts to absolutely demolish those debating her.

2. Rachel isn't about spin. She makes her opinions clear, but she comes at you with facts not opinion. It's presented in as: "This is what the facts are, and here is what I think."

3. She reports about things that most of the media ignores completely or pays little attention too. Therefore, when I watch Rachel I'm guaranteed to not only get analysis from the days big story or stories, but also hear about things that might have otherwise slipped under my radar.

4. Rachel is an genuine person. It's clear that she is exactly as she presents herself, she isn't just some air head reading from a teleprompter. You know her, and because you know her, you can trust her reporting - because you also know if she makes a mistake she'll go back and correct it as soon as she's aware.

Rachel is the best thing to happen to MSNBC. Period. I'll go further. She's the best thing that happened to Cable News. Others can learn from her.

Not to get too 'Howard Johnson is right" on you guys but tonight watching her show she really looked like she is coming into her own. You could tell that she is totally looking forward to next year's shows and made me look forward too!!!

Dig how at the very end she called out ALL of her TeeVee and print reporters to actually investigate and and report the news in the coming year and PLEASE DON"T BE 'STENO SUES' OR WHATEVER WE CALLED THAT DOPE AT THE Washington Post around DU in like 2002 or something.... Wait, was it that Cee Cee Connally??? who we see has been sort of rehabilitated since I see her on the TeeVee more and more. It was her, right??? Anyone... She should be with fuckface Judith Miller now seen only sometimes on Faux And Fiends show

And about Rush all I know is Sen Al wrote a book with a great title, then and now.

25. I took on a fairly big name radio conservative some years ago on Compuserve..
This particular radio jock was (and is) unbeatable on his own radio show where he used his call screeners and absolute control of the mic to just shut out anyone who disagreed and was making good points.

He made the mistake of going on Compuserve and starting his own forum, I joined Compuserve specifically to lambaste him because I'd been listening for a long time and knew where his weak arguments were.

After pounding the crap out of this hack for about three months on his own damn forum I finally realized that most of these folks on the radio and TV just aren't really that effin' smart, most of them are facile and quick but lack real deep insight.

That's where Rachel is now, she's starting to really understand just how bone stupid most of the people she has on her show are and the ones that aren't cretins are defending things they actually know are untrue and/or stupid.

It felt good when I quit shouting at the radio and started killing that jerk on Compuserve, I'm sure Rachel gets a real endorphin rush from eviscerating these twits in front of a nationwide audience.

28. i ADORE her
it's a damn shame that most on the 'other side' won't even give her a chance...she's so logical, concise, emotionally rational and can connect the dots SO well, i believe if given the chance she would actually get through to those who watch her.

30. I don't think the media is as bad as either side plays it, and here's why...
BOTH liberals and conservatives cry VEHEMENTLY that the media is severely slanted against them. Based on that, I would say it's probably in the middle.

And yes, I know alot of DU'ers are gonna bring up "poutrage," and "faux outrage" and all those arguments that basically say that anyone else's opinion must be insincere because it disagrees with yours, but I'm telling you, I work with almost ALL conservatives and their anger at the media isn't "faux" anything, justified or not.
