The administration should tell the whining pilots to shut up and fly the planes
Edited on Wed Dec-30-09 10:06 PM by RB TexLa
Really, so all of you weren't told something, so you all didn't feel all important. Just shut up and fly the plane, they don't inform cabbies of things either.

Added background, I thought this was a known story, sorry.

Pilots Union Faults Feds for Lack of Terror Alert

The pilots union at American Airlines says federal officials failed to notify crews on planes in the United States about the attempted terror attack aboard a Northwest jet on Christmas Day.

The Allied Pilots Association said Wednesday it would lobby Congress to require that federal officials notify all flights in the air — no matter where the flights started — as soon as they learn of a possible attack on another plane.

19. I am assuming that would be the procedure in any event.
FAA would presumably notify all OCCs, who would send info to aircraft by ACARS. It would not be transmitted over an open radio frequency.

17. Your explanation makes even less sense.
You think it's OK to not inform other planes in the air that there's been an attempt to explode something on a plane in the air? You do realize there was more than one hijacked plane on 9/11, right?

Oh. Oh wait, it's you. King of the contrarian, faux-edgy OPs.

18. I see no problem with what the union wants,
and you don't know what the hell you're talking about. I work in this industry -- this incident is pretty personal for me -- and you better believe pilots have a right to know if there's a possible threat to their aircraft.
