Peter (fkin') King, profiling and the IRA
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 07:10 AM by annabanana
Peter King (Toad) NY, was all over TV since the underpants bomber.. Urging more and stricter regulations on everyone and everything.. . .especially Muslims.

Tuesday morning, King was on the "Today" show to urge that the bombing suspect be tried by a military tribunal - a position opposed by the Democratic chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.). Later, King revived his call for religious profiling of air travelers, telling Newsday, "it's common-sense screening.

"If you're looking for the IRA, you go to Irish bars and Catholic churches; if you're looking for the Mafia, you go to Little Italy; if you're looking for the Ku Klux Klan, you don't go to Harlem," he said.

I would have thought that a Republican politician with his history with the IRA wouldn't bring it up. FWIW, he was the only prominent American politician who was championing the cause of Bobby Sands and the other H-Block detainees during their hunger strike back in the 80's.. He was the only one NOT calling them terrorists. Once all his current Republican fans goggle this stuff, the man could probably retire.

(IMHO, it was the only decent thing the man ever did)

1. I thought this was interesting. He's got a point about profiling, but he's an odd one to make it.nt

4. King is uber-stupid...
Possibly the dumbest man in Congress - quite the feat given the level of stupidity in the house...;-)
