1. I strongly disagree
I have coffee. And a meteorite has not fallen on my house in the first nine hours of 2010. Therefore, it's a good year.

6. You got me there. I can't argue against a lack of house smashing meteorites
without flirting with intellectual dishonesty.

11. Agreed & Well Said
Been up since 3:30am Central and already finished the first pot of coffee. Colder than a (insert favorite phrase here___________________) outside. Went out to get the paper (which was pretty useless), the full moon was superb and I haven't seen any meteorites around the neighborhood (although I do watch out for Giant Evil Rutabagas, who do not have our best interests at heart) . Nice display of some frost on the porch windows, so thus far a pretty good year. :bounce:

The only ones who aren't too worked up about the 2012 disaster scenario, are Mexicans with an understanding of the Mayan calendar.

Very disappointing. Such a WONDERFUL momentum he had going. Right up until he appointed Rahmbo as his COS.

22. Gas too maybe, huh
The black eyes peas and collard greens are soon to be smelling up our house

12.4 for a low this morning. This last couple three weeks has been like what I suspect the northeastern part of the country lives with all the time in winter but for us here in northeast ok its kinda unheard of. Snow been on the ground for 2 weeks now and most winters we don't even get much snow and when we do it hardly ever stays around more than a couple three days.

10. Hmm...you must make those things happen.
For example, I just emailed a fat invoice for a bunch of web site content. 2010 will start off right with a check next week, as I hoped. Checks good; bills bad.

19. I do a lot of work for this particular guy, who is a web designer.
He pays instantly at the first of the month for the previous month's work. He gets my attention that way, plus priority for his work. Other clients? Not so much.

The phrase on the invoice is: "Payable on presentation." It often works pretty well.

21. I like 'Payable on presentation'. I have been using 'Payable upon receipt' for late
invoices. Otherwise 'Due within 30 days'.

28. I don't think it really matters. I was just lucky that this
particular web designer found me. He's great with design and SEO, and his client list is growing fast. However, English is not his first language. He's a competent writer, but not a fast or compelling one.

These days, when he sells a site design to a new client, I crank out the copy for a flat rate for the entire site. I've been writing professionally my whole adult life, and on many different topics, so web site content is pretty much easy and fast for me.

The pay isn't what I was getting when the big national magazines still had freelance budgets, but it's more than adequate for the amount of work involved.

The very best thing, though, is that he sells most of his clients a regularly updated blog, and I get to do those, too. Pretty soon, I'll have a decent set of regular blogs to do every month, which should fill that gaps between writing entire sites.

It's a good relationship. We understand each other and he's very low maintenance as a client. It's all good.

25. Back years ago when my brother and I was doing contract work
we had on the invoice, pay within ten days for a 10% discount. It worked too, most times.

and don't ask if we bumped the price up any to take care of that 10% cause I might not tell you the truth :-)

12. Come on. Give it a full quarter. If all the countries problems are not eliminated
by the end of March then I vote we declare 2010 a bust.

On the serious side - any year that starts out without cheeny, bUsh and KKKrove in the white house is immeasurably better than the ones that did. The simple fact that they have been evicted is the one biggest success of the decade.

Now, on to bigger and better things.
