Why I support Dan Onorato for PA Governor
Edited on Wed Jan-06-10 07:41 AM by AllentownJake
2011-2015 will be tough times for the state of Pennsylvania. As the state adjusts to tough times in the aftermath of the Great Recession, Pennsylvania will need a leader with a proven record of reducing government redundancy. We will continue to have revenue problems and budget issues. As the chief executive of Allegheny County, Mr. Onorato has experience in cutting government spending, while not cutting services to the citizens they serve by reducing redundancy. Mr. Onorato has a record as a problem solver who takes responsibility for his administration's actions and that is something the state desperately needs next year. He is a man of character in times where there is a lot of finger pointing and no one is willing to say the buck stops with me.

In addition, as the Chief executive of a county, which has been hit hard by the disastrous economic policies of the republican administrations nationally over the past 30 years, Dan can provide leadership in re-building the private sector opportunities that were lost in the state as a whole. He has worked hard in the past and has grown and protected the Pittsburgh region. His record as an executive there counts. We need that experience and work ethic in Harrisburg.

Dan comes from a working middle class background. Dan understands the needs of the middle class in PA because Dan is middle class at his core. He is not an elitist with silly solutions. He understands what the middle class values and understands what people really want is opportunity to succeed. Dan's commitment to expanding educational opportunities in Pennsylvania shows Dan's commitment to the values that made this state great.

2010 is the time for leadership, innovation, and responsibility. Dan out of a field of many great potential candidates has the best record for moving PA into a new direction. We have tough days ahead of us, we need a leader in PA to help us make it through.

5. Keeping out of it
and given his popularity the past year after the budget battle, I expect him to stay quiet till after November.

6. I oppose Onoroto for being anti-labor, which is a position that must be punished.

This is especially annoying because he got a 10% drink tax put through to pay for the port authority, so not only does he raise taxes, he also cuts wages for which the taxes were enacted.

Hoeffel on the other hand want to make bring in a more fair income tax.
