I'm quite familiar with his work, and it saddened me to learn of his passing. Peace, my friend, whom I admired from a distance.

80. It was a special time...and a special place when the internets were new....
The trolls were few and folks were so incredible happy to be able to get information. Remember the rolling C-Span Hearings threads? Keph always started them and other DU'ers pitched in and we would go all day with some of them.

That was long ago and far away when we STILL BELIEVED that our CONGRESS really worked for us! A different time...but the work goes on..

26. Thank you so much for this thread of rememberance
I am risen from the egg in the hidden land. My mouth is given to me that I may speak with it in the presence of the great god, the lord of the underworld. May I not be turned away from the Council of any god. I am Osiris, lord of Re-Staw. The lot of the Osiris scribe Ani, true of voice, is with he who is on top of the steps. I have come as my heart desires to the Burning Island; I have extinguished the fire.

Homage to you, lord of radience at the head of the temple, chief of total darkness. I have come before you; I am glorious; I am pure. My arms are behind you. Your ancestors are your portion. Give my my mouth so that I may speak with it. May I lead my heart in its hour of burning incense of night.

If this book is known upon earth in writing on the coffin, he will come forth by day in whatever form he wishes, and he enter to the place, and he shall not be turned away. Bread and beer and meat will be given to him on the alter of Osiris. He will enter in peace to the Field of Reeds, to know this command of the one in Busiris. Barley and wheat will be given to him in it. Green things will be before him as he was on earth. He will do as he desires like the company of gods which is in the underworld, continuously, millions of times, the Osiris scribe Ani.

He cared about everybody and truly believed that working together we can make all the difference in the world.

His support for Dr. Dean in 2004 made me realize what a good man the good doctor is.

44. I stayed here because of him.
I don't read LBN as faithfully now as I did when he was alive.

As I understand it, he had a lot of problems in his personal life. But he had purpose. I hope he knew that in many ways he was a big part of the soul of DU. He certainly was the soul of LBN.

Many of us, including me, can go through bleak periods in our lives. We think everything we do is worthless and that we have accomplished nothing.

Kephra kept going in spite of his problems. He showed us what was inside of him. In real life, many people would have overlooked his devotion and intelligence. It took a message board to show him at his best.

I learned a lot from him, and it wasn't simply Latest Breaking News.

69. I'm ashamed to know I never knew him
I was around in those days, but never paid attention to who made DU work at the time.

Still, I salute him for the impact he made here.

Thanks, Kef.

I really would have married him, too, if he'd have had me; if I hadn't already been in a relationship. When I proposed half-jokingly, he told me he was fat. I told him I knew and I didn't care, as the other guy I was flirting with weighed 400 lbs. I married the other guy instead, and that guy always thought if I'd married Keph first it would be he who had died...

Divorced now. In a new relationship with someone a generation older than me.

So it goes.

Tucker

100. Thanks fo the pic. He was one who worked hard every day to make DU better
and more useful, None of the noise-crap-BS look-at-me gibberish that plaques this realm. Just good, informed and helpful hard work, After I began frequenting DU regularly, I soon realized that something posted by Khephra was worth reading,

101. I was gone when he passed away and did not know about it until I was back a few weeks
Kept wondering what was different about LBN. Then a few weeks after I came back someone mentioned the loss of him and I realized why LBN was not the same.
Godspeed and RIP

105. I remember.........
I was still living in Florida at the time. Keph and I were both insomniacs and it sometimes seemed like he and I were the only ones on DU in the early morning hours. Although I never met him in person, we had quite a rapport going on the pages of DU for quite some time. Yes, it was quite a shock, and he's still missed to this day. :-(
