Do PETN Bombers need a window seat?

It occurred to me that with all the insane theatrics involved in airline security that we now endure would it not be reasonable to assign seats based on a threat assessment an not simply by preference of the passenger.


If what I have heard about the Crotch Bomber is correct, it seems that he had a window seat. Presumably to be near the skin of the plane to maximize the blast from his bomb. It also allowed him to pull a blanket over himself and shield his actions from the passenger next to him.


I am not certain if the Shoe Bomber also had a window seat but I am working on the assumption that he had.






Wouldn't it be simple to assign people traveling alone and paying cash an aisle seat? How much could that cost when compared to new scanners that wouldn't have stopped the attack anyways?

something to think about when assessing threat levels.

might this one not be somewhat effective and not cost billions?

1) It costs billions, or

2) it's extremely inconvenient.


Simple solutions don't appeal to people who like to be scared.
