McCain replaces finance director in latest 'restructuring' move
Sen. John McCain has replaced his presidential campaign's finance director, the latest staff shuffle following the Arizona Republican's relatively poor fundraising performance in the first quarter of 2007.

Veteran McCain operative Carla Eudy has been moved out of her role as finance director into a senior advisor position, McCain spokesman Kevin McLaughlin told CNN Tuesday. Mary Kate Johnson replaces Eudy as McCain's new finance director.

"Carla Eudy has been an incredibly hard working and invaluable member of Sen. McCain's team for many years and will remain an integral part of our finance operation as a senior advisor," McLaughlin said in a statement.

McLaughlin called the move a "continuation of the campaign restructuring that began earlier this month."

2. Upper level staff changes are never good news
And dismissing folks who hold the titles of "directors" or "chairmen" (absent a compelling reason like they got cancer or something) bespeaks a campaign that's in bad shape. And since this isn't McCain's first national campaign, it's all the worse. You expect a misstep or two from a rookie, but a seasoned candidate has to pick the right people for the job the very first time. Otherwise, they look like a greenhorn, and McCain is looking every inch the tyro.

4. I hope McCain's campaign sinks faster than a torpedoed battleship.
His campaign deserves to go down in a fiery wreck.
