Should Americans vote for impeachment by sending just $3.33 to Kucinich?
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 07:46 PM by L. Coyote
It might make a real impression on the situation if millions of people contributed just $1 to the campaign.

What do you think? How much would it add up to?

Would it be a good way to say, "IMPEACH CHENEY!"?

One dollar changed to $3.33 on edit.

9. I'd go with the smaller amount for many reasons.
More people will do it.
more people will do it because it does not necessarily mean supporting his candidacy; it means supporting his courage.
more people will do it because everyone can afford that amount. And I think the support is more important than the money, isn't it?

11. Right on. It will be interesting to see what happens to the contributions.
Those supporting the impeachment should contribute with any of these significant numbers:

One buck = for definition: an impetuous, dashing, or spirited man or youth, OR to resist or oppose obstinately; object strongly, as in "The Congressman bucks the Liar."

Two bucks = throw them both out! Self-explanatory.

$3.33 = Vote for HR 333.

$17.76 = Restore the constitution.

$1.01 = As in Political Science 101. Nothing complicated here!!

$6.66 = Throw out the beasts!!

Any others I missed???

13. No, because generally we don't look kindly upon people giving politicians money
to get them to do what they want done. Or does that only apply to giving money to politicians for things we don't like? Would it be ok for Republicans to send Kucinich money not to impeach? If you want to give money to Kucinich, then do it, but don't dictate exactly what you expect to be done with your money.

15. It is the American way Give money to those you support.
Do you support Kucinich's politics? If you support the impeachment effort and want to make that fact understood with your contribution, $3.33 will do that.

This would not be a quid-pro-quo, give money to buy a vote on a law. House Resolution 333 is already filed.

How would you suggest sending a message of approval that will make the news? Kucinich will have to report it if a million people give $1 each!

33. No, I don't support Kucinch's impeachment effort.
I am with the very small minority here who support Pelosi. I am again seeing the penchant of Democrats to attack and devour their own. For instance, if Pelosi does not support impeachment now, then she is aiding and abetting. So what is being said is that only the pro-impeachment crowd have a valid point of view and those who do not agree are somehow not patriotic or worse--a freeper. Once somebody has to resort to name calling or insinuations to make their point, they have lost. Make your case for impeachment, but don't try and make your point by impugning somebody else's motives or point of view.

I don't believe in sending politicians money specifically for each and every issue I support. When people do this with larger sums of money it is considered by many to be a bribe.

Zachares went on the $160,000 golf trip in August of 2003 with Abramoff and six others, including a member of the House identified as "Representative #3. That lawmaker is not identified, but Rep. Tom Feeney acknowledged the golf trip on his financial disclosure forms but claimed it was paid by the National Center for Public Policy Research, not Jack Abramoff.

Now, this is a bribe!! Geeehzz, I hope AG Gonzales doesn't come after us all for the $3.33 contributions!!!

90. Actual potential for 67 votes to convict in the Senate.
The Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, does not support impeachment and neither does my Senator, Russ Feingold. I think I am in good company. Unless there is actually a possibility of conviction after impeachment, then impeachment is a political, feel good maneuver. Without conviction, Bush walks and he will claim it was simply a political maneuver.

99. You are quite welcome! The list of Democratic representatives who do not support impeach NOW
is very long. In fact, I was at a local meeting, a listening session with Senator Feingold, and he said: (http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2006/11/21/news/02feingold21.txt)

“I don’t support impeachment, and I don’t support impeachment hearings, even though I think the president has probably committed an impeachable offense,” Feingold said in response to a question from Al Schulz of La Crosse.

“We are not required to impeach the president simply because he’s committed an impeachable offense, which I think he did with the illegal wiretapping. We have to decide whether it’s in the best interest of the country to go through that process.”

Aside from Dennis Kucinich, is there a long list of any prominent Democrats in either the House or Senate who support impeachment now? Feingold, like Pelosi, can count and he knows if Bush is impeached now there are not enough votes in the Senate to convict.
Would you be happy with impeachment only and no conviction? I wouldn't. Just because people do not agree with your stance on impeachment does not make them any less of a good Democrat. Senator Feingold is an excellent Democrat and I am happy that he represents me in the Senate.

37. Impeachment does not need money, it needs votes by members of the House.
Impeachment is very serious and important. If your representative will not vote for it on it own merits, then donating money to do it should not be done. If a member of the House believes that impeachment is the best course of action, then they should vote in favor of it without being encouraged by any amount of monetary donations.

but about 30 years ago there was something going on in D.C. that a lot of people didn't like and there was a campaign where everyone who was against this sent a tea bag to the White House. So many were sent that whatever it was that we were fighting against was called off. Sorry --it's been so long ago I can't remember what it was all about. it too! But, the point was that something as simple as putting a tea bag in an envelope spread across the country and so many were sent that it actually made a difference. As I recall it was a campaign that was started by disc jockeys across the country. I'm surprised something like that has not been organized to send the message to the White House regarding the war.

then. There were literally hundreds of companies that owned radio stations, today 6 companies own 98% of all the stations, and they directly dictate what is and is not permitted to be said.

It really is worth your job to disobey the corporate masters today, ask Howard Stern.

It wasn't easy to find the "contribute button."

The reason for the contribution is explicit. I'll decide who to support later, but at least this empowers a voice we need right now with a message of specific support for today's action!

77. Populism. You just hit the heart of the target, "if enough people did it..."
That's the key to the idea, and to populism generally. If enough people do it ... then notice must be taken.

Meanwhile, at the very least we are sending our voices of support, voting with plastic. I'll decide who I support later in the process, but I do support the impeachment resolution.

That's my 333 cents worth.

79. Why you should donate at least $3.33 even if he's not your candidate
By supporting Kucinich in this bold act, you'll be sending a message that Taking A Stand is a way to GET votes, not lose them. Whoever your candidate may be, you'll be telling them to get real--IMPEACH!

How many more w/o posting? I'm sure they are taking notice by now.

Make it $3.33 or $6.66 if you are voting to support impeaching (or 10x, etc.).

I just did a mailing to 100 people. If they each do 100 ...... If each reader does 100 ...

We'll know it's a real prairie fire when they start coming back to our own inboxes!

Use plastic or PayPal.

Snail Mail:

Cleveland, OH 44111

101. Yes, it is a campaign to impeach Liars, nothing more, nothing less
Indeed, let's convince every Congressperson to cosponser House Resolution 333. However, this is not ther forum where one does that.

And, what else can we do? Any ideas appreciated. How about:

Secretly reading their e-mails w/o a warrant.
Spying on their political activities.
Secret detentions, torture, and interrogation.
Waterboarding.
Forced sexually explicit posing.
Illegally invading gated suburbs.

Any other ideas?

The California Democratic Party approved a resolution on Sunday to begin withdrawing U.S. soldiers from Iraq and calling on Congress to investigate the actions of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney and take appropriate action, including impeachment.

......

The impeachment resolution calls on Congress to investigate abuses of power by Bush and to "take necessary action to call the administration to account with appropriate remedies and punishment, including impeachment." .......

Two U.S. House Democrats have signed on as co-sponsors to Dennis Kucinich's resolution seeking to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. They are William Lacy Clay, from St. Louis, and Jan Schakowsky, of Chicago. Neither was immediately available to discuss their reasons but their spokesmen confirmed their support for impeachment.
