Long Term Aid in Haiti

Does anybody know if there are organizations in Haiti that are working on the long-term effects of the quake? As anyone who has read the shock doctrine knows, this is a ripe target for the vultures of disaster capitalism. Are there any organizations that are concerned with the economic fallout following this over the next couple decades? This is not meant to diminish the urgent task of addressing immediate suffering. There are plenty of people doing good work on that front. But I'm looking to send support to those looking further out as well. Please link to any organizations if you know of them.

1. Just about every NGO you can name is involved in Haiti long term

because the people there were in dire need even before this calamity.

This isn't a case of a bunch of stuff being dumped and then everybody pulls out. Most organizations were already established for the long haul there.

2. Wait a bit. Right now, everyone's resources are trying to deal

with the immediate disaster. The long-range aid is pretty secondary right now. Donate to the immediate helpers right now, please.

that's what i said in the OP. but keep in mind that the struggles for land rights, etc...begin while the rubble is being cleared. they didn't even wait that long to try reclaiming land under public housing in new orleans for developers.

send money for rescue now. but don't forget that there's much to do after the rescue is complete. that's all i'm saying.

so yes, DON'T HOLD BACK. donate NOW if you can. but keep your eyes and ears open.
