OH Senate Race: Brunner Now Polls Better Against Portman than Fisher

Former Congressman Rob Portman continues to have the edge on both his chief Democratic rivals in this year’s race for the U.S. Senate in Ohio.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the Buckeye State shows the Republican hopeful picking up more votes than he did a month ago and leading both Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.

Portman, who also served as the director of the Office of Management and Budget and the U.S. Trade Representative under President George W. Bush, now leads Fisher by seven points, 44% to 37%. Four percent (4%) like some other candidate, and 14% are undecided.

Against Brunner, Portman holds a narrower three-point edge, 43% to 40%. Five percent (5%) prefer another candidate, and 13% are not sure.
In December, Portman was in a virtual tie with Fisher 38% to 36% and was ahead of Brunner 40% to 33%. In September, the candidates neck-and-neck.

If Democrats want to win in Ohio, it's time to start supporting the more progressive candidate: Jennifer Brunner. Brunner is behind in fundraising, mainly because Fisher has better name recognition and has gotten a lot of endorsements, but she has huge grassroots support and can totally win the nomination.
