Who shot Pat Tillman?
I hadn't been following the story closely enough; has the name ever been released? If not... is that normal??

2. They may not know
even if they did identifying cpl "joe smith" as being involved in a FF incident does not make the situation better.

The officer who ordered the cover up has been identified. That is much more important.

4. Unless He Was Fragged
(Which he might have been)

Then I certainly hope they release the name, and bring him to justice.

8. There is no reason to believe that
he was, from what I read, in front of other men in his unit. Misidentified and killed by aimed rifle fire.

That happens, sadly. If he was shot on base that would be alarming, but in a firefight on a field op, by accident is not uncommon. It has happened in Iraq.

9. That is what I thought until
I read that he was scheduled to be interviewed by Noam Chomsky on his next leave and that the military burned his diary and his uniform.

That's when i looked in the closet for my tinfoil hat and dusted it off.

13. Anyone who burns a recently dead soldier's uniform for political purposes...
...is lower than a maggot in my book.

That having been said, I don't think the government killed Pat. Playing the devil's advocate here, I think he would have been much more useful to them alive, well, and in plenty of post-combat photo ops with Senor Boosh. It's possible Pat would've refused (which I doubt--he wasn't publicly confrontational), but a dead soldier is almost always a bigger PR problem for the army than a live one.

It was when he died in friendly fire that they said: "Wuh-oh! We got a problem--this makes our war look confusing and scary rather than noble and patriotic." And so began the coverup.

21. According to his mom, he did not support the war in Iraq -
he thought it was illegal. If he had returned to the States and made that opinio public it would have been a big problem for Bushco.

22. Depends on what they burned and why
I had tons of crap I would not my parents getting if I was to have run over a land mine driving all over the beautiful former Yugoslavia. Porn and skoal come to mind. Various other correspondence come to mind.

The uniform is odd. If it was soaked in blood maybe. I don't know what surrounded the incident.

It sounds like a cover up by the officer named.

The Army Sf folks I have met are generally intelligent people. Not morons, they have volunteered at least twice to be where they are. Killing one another is odd behavior.

Upchain dumbass orders to cover one's ass or look good, no fucking surprise there.

from up-close-and-personal unfriendly friendly fire.

If the following is true: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Tillman#Political_views

Then killing him might have been a better option for the Bush crowd.

I really, really hat to say that - I've avoided conspiricy theories for many decades, but we are living in very strange times.

12. Not saying it would make it better.
I was just under the impression that such things were made known, during an investigation. Maybe that's just for cases involving international incidents, like when the Canadians were killed.

14. Who ordered the Code Red?
This was an operation designed to silence a formidable administration critic at a time when the Abu Ghraib torture scandal was on the front pages every day. Who ordered the killing? We may never know.

But Mary Tillman and her son Kevin will not rest, until their dying day, in the search for the facts.

That might've been enough to tick off a certain type of military hothead.

Even so, I still buy the official story for the time being. The second official story, that is.

25. He was in a SF community
not a bunch of morons. Not that line infantry are morons, but they dont have to carry retards. SF generally score high IQs and are not going to murder another guy over a political belief.

A bullshit coverup upchain is no surprise.

29. You mean his ranger counterparts
were confused in a firefight and shot him by accident?

There is NO DATA to support anything other than wild guessing here. There have been many FF incidents in both theaters.
