Stupid help question

I have one of those "pay as you go" phone plans and I have amassed nearly $500 in minutes cuz I don't use it much. My question is, how the hell do you text? I would like to send a lot of that money to the Red Cross, but being ignorant on texting, I haven't a clue how to do it. Could someone give me a step-by-step? Thanks in advance.

1. is your phone text enabled? I didn't have them enable mine.....

that would be the first thing to check. call your provider and ask....

your minutes, right? It only takes 10 seconds to send a text that will get you billed for ten bucks...

edit: I think I was unclear...if you use 1 minute to send a text they will charge you (on your cell statement) the
$10 'donation'. You cannot "spend" like 100 of your unused minutes to make a $100 donation. Hope that makes it a bit more clear...

over the internet. But I am sure your phone has some sort of text message option, which many be located under the "messages" option. Try there first. Then it might say, "new message", "text message" Go to text message and you should be able to start typing. When you're finished, just hit send. Let me know. All phones are different and, again, having trouble explaining it over the internet.
