It is times like these that test our humanity.
Unfortunately, there are many that cannot pass the simple test of being a human. We are all part of the human race and cannot help but feel pain and sympathy when events such as this tragedy in Haiti happen.

However, there are some, that would withhold sympathy and pass judgment on the victims for being poor and looking for government handouts. They would give these people nothing.

They are not worthy of being part of the human race. They are a lower form of life. They walk around like humans, with half their brains tied behind their backs.

2. Moreso a test of the humanity of those who live in Haiti. Some now loot, some abide by law.

3. It is so hard for me to even think that some hearts can be so cold.
I feel that those who are not feeling the grief of this disaster will be forced to experience it in their own lives and when they do they will know the hurt that other's harshness causes.

4. Speaking of Rush Limbaugh, I would like to
go to him, bind his mouth with tape, handcuff him, throw him on a private plane going to Haiti, set him right in the middle of the chaos and unfortunate people and allow the people to throw stones at him. He has no right to consider himself human. I watched a volunteer pull a small child from the wreckage. The little boy clenched the man as hard as he could. I wanted to stick my hand through the television and take that little boy myself and hold him close and sit down with him and rock him to sleep--a good sleep that maybe could allay his fears. It was then that Limbaugh came to mind and I frankly wanted to maim him and shame him. But he is beyond shame. I have cried all afternoon just seeing the poor people there, but that little boy really got to me.

5. Times like these bring out the best and worst
in people. When we were evacuating for Katrina, we listened to public radio all the way to North Mississippi, where we were staying with relatives. People from all over the state were calling in to the station offering food and shelter in their own homes to strangers. It made me proud of my state. But then, a few months later, I was in a bar in Vicksburg and heard a rant from a guy who was pissed about the aid we were receiving on the Gulf Coast. He said, "That's what they get for living down there!" These times show what a person is truly made of. Fortunately, most people listen to their better angels.
