4. I disagree. McCain is just being a colossal, big-time ASSHOLE.
Stewart isn't even getting the opportunity to kick the shit out of him, because McCain won't shut his fucking mouth for half a second. He's obviously been coached to just keep talking and don't let Jon get a word in. He's even more disgraceful than usual.

17. I've heard the word colossal before, but it's usually used in
reference to the size of peanuts. I certainly never heard it used in reference to someone's behavior. But then maybe I'm just sheltered.

As to clarifing my statement,I do find it interesting that you found McCain was doing acolossal(large, big, great?) job on TDS. Just interesting, that's all. You have the right to your opinion.

48. I think it was the grammatical error in your subject line
Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 01:14 AM by YankmeCrankme
When using colossal as an adjective you don't need to use a comma after it, i.e. "That is a big red truck". Your sentence could read as if you are calling John McCain a colossal, which could confuse someone, and then calling the above poster a big-time asshole. Especially, since you started your post with "I disagree..." inferring that you disagreed with the OP that John McCain looked bad on the show. I noticed that you didn't use a comma after "very large" in the rewording of you original comment. Why? Because "a very large, asshole" doesn't make sense. No need to be hard on someone misinterpreting your writing when it lends itself to misinterpretation.

16. That was a thing of beauty. It should be copied to DVD and sent to
every damn MSM person we can find. That is how to do an interview. Jon was polite, concise (unlike Shit-For-Brains McCain) and he didn't let up. He wouldn't SFB McCain get away with spouting lame GOP talking points and called him on his BS.

I, too, was yelling at SFB McCain to shut the hell up. If he had a single functioning brain cell he would have realized early on he was outclassed and just clam up. He tried to over and out talk Jon but he just came off as desperate to spew the lines that work with his special crowd of dead-enders.

Did ya hear Jon promise him that the next time he comes on they will do it for giggles and laughs and not be so serious? Just what the country needs, another dimwit who can't handle a simple interview. SFB McCain was owned.

21. I don't think McCain had any clue before walking on to that stage
it was going to be a real interview. I think McCain thought he had been on so many times he could just walk on, make a little small talk and funny, get his face out to the "The Daily Show" crowd and go home. He thought wrong.

He started right out of the gate trying to make silly jokes and Jon wasn't having it. McCain then tired another stupid joke and Jon came right back at him, seriously. This reminds me of the time when Jon Stewart was on Crossfire and Fucker Carlson thought he was coming on to do a three minute stand up and Jon sliced and diced Fucker and Paul Begalia and then told them to quit they were hurting America.

Tonight was another of Jon's "Your Hurting America" moments.

23. Amazing. Once upon a time, I found John McCain electable.
  • He kicked Bush in the balls on a regular basis.
  • The knuckledraggers in Arizona hated some much that they attempted a recall on him.
  • Through his sacrifice, we saw the true face of Karl Rove.
And now this.

What the hell.

in fact, he was probably one of my favorite candidates overall back in the 2000 primary season. What's happened to him lately, though? Was I just a naive little kid back then (I was fourteen in 2000), thinking that he seemed like an honest, decent, and principled guy? Anyway, looks like I'll have to try to catch the rerun of this Daily Show episode...it sounds pretty intense. Man, I love Jon Stewart... :loveya:

74. Yes, indeedy.
All during his interview with Jon Stewart, he kept reminding us how no one criticized the President more regulary than he (McCain). And that's true. In the very next breath, he would defend the concept of "winning" in Iraq, which he previously declared meaningless, and he'd defend the surge as a "new strategy".

Quite clearly, McCain has abandoned his centrist, maverick role in favor of pandering to the neocon base. His appearance last night had the single purpose of showing the neocons that he was willing to tell the left that he was finished with them. Message delivered, loud and clear. Unfortunately, the neocons still hate you, and the you've left the progressives stunned by turning your back.

Goodbye, John McCain.

27. I disagree. I finally just turned it off.
McCain talked right over Jon and had that Bush, Sh*t-eating smirk on his face while he did so.

This needs to be McCain's last appearance on TDS if he won't even have the courtesy to let Jon talk.

I thought that it was interesting last night that the audience moaned when they heard that McCain was going to be the guest tonight.

McCain is a sad loser. He got where he is today using his wife's family's money. He isn't much better than Bush in that regard.

Along the level of bad jokes of bush's video of laughingly hunting for the WMDs around the oval office - played at an annual press corps dinner.

even stated he was "another Bu$h, wouldn't vote for him" on Boston Legal.

Time to retire SINator.

79. Thanks -Did you notice how McCain revealed that he doesn't consider Iraqis to be people?
He said his market trip was the first time "anybody" had been there since the bombing. -Meaning, of course, that only AMERICAN visitors would qualify as being "anybody"

78. I LOVED how he defended his audience against McC's dismissive snipe
McC, commenting after the audience applauded one of Stewart's remarks: Well, we know whose side THEY'RE on.

Jon Stewart: They're on AMERICA's side. They're PATRIOTS.

Made me cry!

83. This was McCain's "Crossfire" moment
Will it get as much press as Jon's evisceration of the former "Crossfire" "stars"? I'm not sure, but I am sure about one thing: This is the beginning of the end for McCain.

Jon was willing to be the nice guy until McCain went on the attack. I agree with the poster that stated this should be viewed far and wide. McCain's done. Considering the demographic that regularly views "TDS", it was a serious misstep for him to even appear.

IMHO, YMMV,
Julie

85. McCain never pissed me off this much before
Like others, I used to have some amount of respect for McCain. No more.

From the non-stop vomiting of talking points :puke:
to the IED under JS's desk "joke"
to his remark about wanting to kick the dog :wtf:
to his insulting rhetoric
to his, his, arrgghhhhh EVERYTHING!!!

I sincerely hope that this is his Waterloo. Go peddle Viagra along with Bob Dole, John. We've looked into your eyes, have seen your soul, and are not impressed. Buh-bye

86. What is violence?
It's everything you noticed about McCain.

A few years ago, the Dalai Lama came to Canada and we went to hear him speak. He talked about violence and how to recognize it.
He said that sometimes it isn't so evident. When for example, in the raising of children, we need to discipline them, we will often use force such as preventing them from running into traffic. We love them so this is not a violent act.
But he told us that when people come to him and smile and want to be his friend and it turns out that they want favours or they only want the prestige of his company, he says this is an act of violence.

That smile on McCain's face reminded me immediately of the Dalai Lama's story. It was the smile of a clown in a horror movie. It was an act of violence.
