Read the leaves
first Havanna and DC decide to essentially ignore each other and ahem allow use of their air space to fly medical missions

And now we are having CNN covering the work of the Cuban doctors, with the backup of Spanish and Latin doctors...

Folks relations are about to thaw... in relative terms.

Something good is coming out of this, and the CNN correspondent was singing the praises of the Cuban team.

So for all of you who said they'd never be mentioned, they have.

K&R

That is such hopeful news. The crisis allows us to work with Cuba, sort of.

as well, so I hope you are right. There is no longer any Communist threat to anyone. I don't think there ever was and I grew up in the 50s when you could be tarred and feathered for saying that. It was simply an alternative economic system that collapsed of its own weight.

Castro's first choice was not to embrace Communism. He came to the US after his revolution and asked us for help first to form a Democracy. This was around 1959 or 1960. He was turned away and so he sought out help from the Soviet Union because he felt it was the only way to keep his government alive so that it would not return to the corruption it suffered under Battista. Castro was not the most ideal leader either, but to blame the country and its people for all these years seems ludicrous in the extreme. I know I'm gonna get it now, but the Obama squad is after me anyway and I might as well live dangerously.

6. Well Obama hinted at normalization during the Campaing
leading to the usual assholes... screaming...

So we may see it.
