we only ever needed 51, and you know it.

Actually, we need 50 + Joe Biden's tie breaking vote.

and you know it :hi:

3. You don't need ANY senators for that.
The House just has to pass it.

5. you think they're going to change the bill as it is now? That's a laff.

But I am sick and tired of the meme of "We only need 50 and vp Cheney's tie breaking vote" being turned into a fucking mandate for eight fucking years, and the dems won't even grow a pair with sixty (or even 58, if we lose tomorrow and Joe Lieberman might as well be a repig)

on edit: to add "for eight fucking years"

2. We only need 51 for something CALLED HCR...
... but we need 60 to get REAL HCR.

Reconciliation won't get the whole package through (and you know it)

And playing that game is very dangerous. There's a tightrope to walk here if we don't want several races in November to look like MA does right now.

4. ROFLMFAO!!! You think what we're getting now is REAL HCR...ha ha!!
Reconciliation WILL INDEED get the whole package through, and you know it.

We need our so-called leadership to grow a pair.

10. I never said it was "real HCR"... I said we needed 60 to get it
An no, reconciliation will NTO get the current package through... and saying "and you know it" doesn't make it any more true.

Reconciliation is not merely a loophole/window when you get to vote on anything that had been filibustered. Only certain measures qualify, and the existing bill would have to be changed substantially to fit through the window.

I won't repeat "And you know it"... since you obviously don't... but you SHOULD learn it before mis-posting again.

16. Lol! Thanks for proving my point.
No... it isn't "anything dealing with money".

Nice try.

14. oh, and yes you did. You said we need 51 votes for something CALLED HCR, not REAL HCR
and you know it. (I just did that particular "and you know it" because I thought it was funny)

You said those words, or something very close upthread. If Brown wins, it still ain't over. We just need to grow a pair and have dem leadership that isn't from some namby-pamby wobbly state like our last two were.

50+Joe, and you know it.

17. Love how you can justify your strawman.
Saying that we need 60 for "real HCR" does NOT mean that the current bill qualifies. It just means that we can't get any CLOSER to it without 60.

No... if Brown wins, it's far from "over", but it gets harder.

Not the least reason of which is because other Democrats are watching MA and don't want the same thing to happen to them.

18. I assume you mean whatever was negotitated between the House and Senate
That would need 60,

From what many people have written, the House would pass the Senate bill as is and the President would sign it. Then the bill that would be done with reconciliation would include those changes that fit the reconciliation rules. I have not seen an analysis that lists the changes from the Senate plan wanted (there have been some on specific issues) with analysis on what could and couldn't get through reconciliation. (ie I assume that changing the threshold upward on the excise tax could meet the criteria, but could other provisions? )

21. Sorry, but that is just plain wrong. Reconciliation will NOT get the whole package through.
It has nothing to do with growing a pair, but with reality. I realize that many people here do not want to even attempt to understand reconciliation, but here is an explanation: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=7480650&mesg_id=7480650

No, reconciliation will not get the whole package through.

13. It won't be. And you know it.
This govt is taking power every chance it has, never giving up that control once it has it, and is funneling our money into corporations. The health care bill will be whatever is most profitable for the corporations who paid to get the current administration elected. Those plans are well known, nobody is even trying to conceal them now.

it was added to later. Same thing here. I would insert 'and you know it' here, but I'm saving it for the fifty vote thing.
