Well, things are alrady getting nasty in San Diego

They are going over a few things including that they are preparing to evac the Tijuana River Valley. For you familiar with San Diego... you know what I am talking about.

As I sensed from seeing the the rain come down, it is not going to be a good thing.

The usual places are already getting into trouble,

The rain has lightened up here; need to go over the border in the a.m.

anyway they are expecting over you upwards of eight inches which is double of the rains of '93.

I am torn. If they are right, I'd advise getting out now, but that road is nasty in the best of times, and driving at night.

On the bright side, the worst is expected by Thursday... the eight inches is over the course of this mess... which makes no sense.

El pronóstico de lluvia para inicio de la próxima semana preocupa a las autoridades quienes estiman que en todo el estado se esperan precipitaciones de 4 a 8 pulgadas.

La noche del domingo iniciará la lluvia y se espera que la condición sea más seria a partir del próximo jueves.

Esto a motivado a las autoridades de protección civil en Baja California tomen las medidas necesarias y estar listos para recibir el meteoro.

Incluso ya se tuvo contacto con los responsables del fondo nacional de desastres naturales para acceder a recursos económicos en caso de que se requieran.

Y es que la estimación de afectaciones ante el pronóstico es importante, sobre todo en aquello que tiene que ver con la atención de los posibles damnificados que estará dejando la condición climática, particularmente en la zona costa del Estado.

La cantidad de lluvia que se espera para la próxima semana representa, dicen las autoridades, más del doble de la que se registró durante las lluvias de 1993 en Tijuana.

Destacaron las autoridades de protección civil que la que se espera es sólo la primera lluvia de la temporada pues no es hasta mayo cuando las posibilidades de precipitación de diluyen.

The rain has stopped for now; we're leaving early in the a.m. I think the next batch of rain is due in tomorrow p.m. I'll be on a plane and my family will be returning here to sweep the water out of their house.

Ugh. Yep, it's going to be a nasty, nasty week for them.

I hate to think about it. As I told my hubby if I was still doing this... I'd be leaving tonight, or early today and not come home until next week.

those levees will be a problem in a quake more than a storm, most likely... and yes, they are a worry.

Levees are a particular concern when river levels high, especially in storms with heavy rain & high winds. Right now river levels are not high.

Think we got about half an inch of rain today. If the predicted storm totals this week for this area turn out to be accurate, we should be OK. (Knock on wood, etc.)

Where we're already drowning. My gravel road is now a mud pit that threatens to suck down my truck every time I drive on it. More rain we do not need.

You take care out there and stay safe, floods can be quick and devastating.
