Why Is That pig ru$h Still On The Air? Did You Hear What He Said About Obama?

Is anybody here as outraged about this as you were about Imus?

"Limbaugh Plays "Barack The Magic Negro" on His Show
By Storm Bear, Daily Kos. Posted April 24, 2007.

And he's still on the air?

by Storm Bear from Daily Kos:

This is a head-shaker. Imus gets canned for calling some college women basketball players "nappy-headed hos" and yet Rush Limbaugh plays "Barack The Magic Negro" on his show and he is still on the air?

1. Imus was NOT fired for what he said
He was fired because sponsors pulled out. So long as sponsors pay to air Limbaugh's garbage he will be on the air no matter what he says.

That's broadcasting 101 in these greed driven days.

2. The sponsors pulled out because people raised the issue
We need to go after limpballs sponsors and get them to pull out of his show as well.
At the same time we need to be loud in the he can't say that message. Call CNN, Call MSNBC, ABC, CBS, why are they letting him say that when Imus was fires for less racial comments?

We need to be vocal.

3. They are scared shitless of Obama
I just saw somewhere that some really pissed off republican donors have given the limit to
Barak. This is why the wingnuts feel such a need to go after him this early.

8. Exactly!
I was laughing my ass off when NBC brought forth their illustrious CEO who announced that firing Imus had NOTHING to do with the sponsors leaving in droves over the past few days. Too funny! It was like a neon sign was flashing on this guy's forehead that proclaimed, "LIAR!"

Executives and CEOs are trashing the networks they own through greed and insincerity. BREAK UP THE CORRUPT MEDIA CONGLOMERATE BEASTIE! :hi:

In the interim, let's DO contact all of Limbaugh's sponsors to inform them of our genuine outrage?

4. Why???
Because Imus was an easy target, and Rush isn't. CBS and MSNBC looked at the bottom line and realized that Imus wasn't bringing in as much as he was being paid.

Clear Channel on the other hand is probably getting support from conservatives who like having Rush on the air, so perhaps they're not to worried about the "liberal" view!

13. I'm not buying that as cover
The intent of the columnist was not to promote racism.

The intent of Rush is to promote racism.

Have you listened to the song? They've got Al Sharpton singing it in the most "over the top" ghetto slang that you could imagine.

I'm tired of these wing-nuts using what may have been a legitimate opinion peice in the LA Times for cover for the BS they pull.

All it would take is for a journalist, any journalist, or even any citizen to simply ask the LA Time writer how he feels about the parody that Rush has created. Ask him if his intent was to give Rush cover for a Minstrel Show.

The writer was trying to make a point that some white people may feel comfortable with Obama because he doesn't seem threatening and doesn't meet the sterotype of the "gang-banger thug" with his pants worn down around his ankles.

Rush is using it to whip up bigotry and prejudice among his 99.3% white audience.

There is a huge difference.

14. I heard the song the first time he played it.
Limbaugh used the column as his cover for making a parody song based on the Magic Negro term.

Everyone knows that it's really a cover for his racism, but that's the excuse Limbaugh is going to use.

20. Interesting as far as films go
I think the term and the idea is very intriguing in analyzing films and books, as reflective of how our society views minorities, especially black men.

12. He also repeatedly referred to Obama
Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 09:23 AM by maxrandb
as a "Halfrican".

- Hillary Clinton is a "femi-nazi"
- John Edwards is "the Breck Girl"
- Senator Patrick Leahy is "Leaky Leahy"
- Senator Durbin is "Senator Turbin"
- He mocked a man with muscular dystrophy
- Liberals are responsible for everything from slavery to the Lindbergh kidnapping, to 9/11
- Democrats are defeatist and terrorist supporters who "embolden our enemies"
- He rails about the evils of the "drug culture", but had to enter rehab for addiction to pain medication that he was buying out of the trunk of his maids car.
- He's a big "family values" guy who was caught returning from the Dominican Republic (an underage male prostitute hot spot) with Viagra.
- He preaches about the "sanctity of marriage", an endeavor he has undertaken three times
- He's a strong supporter of our "brave men and women in uniform", yet when he was called to serve, he got a deferment because of a cyst on his ass.

Hell when he started out, he used to have an "Aids Update" where he poked fun at people suffering from a terrible incurable disease.

I don't know about you, but my "outrage meter" is peaked concerning Rush Limpballs. As long as the people who bankroll him continue to do so, he'll be on the radio.

This guy has done worse than what Imus did, and he's done it on a daily basis for the past 20 years.

The only silver lining I see is that at least for three hours day, the wing-nuts that listen to him are safe in their mom's basements, unable to harm themselves or any of the rest of us.

17. The thing about AIDS is...

Limbaugh would name someone who died of AIDS and play canned in applause.

He is beyond being a worthless tool.

16. let him keep spewing
He'll eventually bury himself with his mouth. The beautiful thing about freedom of speech is, it makes it easy to identify the bad guys.

The RW noise machine is running out of steam. They never had much substance to begin with, but as the *bu$h misadministration sinks lower and lower, all they have left to resort to is childish insults. I think it best for them to stay on the air and continue to self-destruct in full view.

If they all get "Imus'ed" it will just make martyrs out of them. Let their morally bankrupt ideals slowly carry them off into the sunset.

It hasn't been easy for me to come to this conclusion, since I have had a fantasy for the longest time of tossing pigboy out of his ivory tower window after shoving the "golden EIB microphone" up his ass, but, I think letting this ilk self-destruct will be the most benificial thing in the long run.

19. lush has become the teflon limp dong
He is untouchable.
We can call or write his sponsors, but for every one call of disapproval, he will get 20 calls of support.
His audience blindly follows him, nothing will turn them or his sponsors away.
If rush's drug use didn't turn off the right wing nuts, nothing will. They let that go like it never happened.
Lush can make racist comments all day, and his followers eat it like candy, the majority of them are probably more racist than he he is.
As long as his audience stays with him, so will his sponsors, all the sponsors care about is money, they have no sense of decency.
We all know if a Democratic supporter were caught saying or doing the things lush has done, especially drugs. The rush followers would be calling for their head on a platter.

Look at Rosie, she never said anything offensive, maybe controversial to some, but not offensive, look at what they did to her. I hope she made the decision to leave "their view", and didn't give them the satisfaction of letting her go.

So I guess you could say I'm already boycotting them

I have to admit, if the day ever comes where I need a little get me up, boycott be damned. I'm popping a little blue pill.
My political activism only goes so far. Then again, there is levitra and cialis.

24. Give it up. No one on DU cares. They wrote 20 posts/day for a solid week to get Imus fired
On every blog on the Internet. Why? Because the media told them to, and they believe whatever TV tells them is important. What Imus said is important, not Rush saying "get that bone out of your nose" to a black man. The US invasion of Iraq is important, not the US occupation of Somalia last winter (a subject which would suddenly elicit internet-wide alerts and 200 posts per day if one of the propagandists people listen to went and admitted to DUers that it was a US action.) See how it works? DU is completely under the thumb of perceptions generated by the TV media. They will NEVER go after Rush because TV has them convinced that he does not deserve to be fired. But they think Imus does. Why? Because floating heads on their television sets expressed outrage in terms bloggers understood as a signal to nod and agree.

26. How to be insulting while completely full of it brougght to you by Lepold's ghost
First DUers didn't get Imus fired.

And you are apparently unaware of DU's efforts against Rush which have included going after him for his ESPN gig and going after his sponsors.

DU spent months doing that to no avail.

But I suppose you are the only one who is untainted and aware of the TRUTH!
