In just a couple hours, we’ll officially kick off the campaign for Ohio’s future. I could not be more proud to announce that my running mate will be President of the Center for Child and Family Advocacy and former Franklin County Judge Yvette McGee Brown.

Yesterday, Yvette and I recorded a short video to introduce her to Ohio. Click here to watch the video and see why I think she will be such an incredible Lieutenant Governor.

I know that Yvette will make a wonderful Lieutenant Governor because she's spent her entire life fighting for Ohio families. She is the daughter of a single mother who worked two jobs to support her family. Yvette found remarkable opportunities here in Ohio. She's taken those remarkable opportunities and used them, not to further her own goals, but to make life better for average Ohioans, especially our children.

That says something really special about her character and what kind of leader she will be.

Yvette’s career has been dedicated to children and families. As a judge in Franklin County, she presided over domestic relations and juvenile court for nearly a decade. Since 2002, Yvette has led the Center for Child and Family Advocacy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital – the first program of its kind to provide comprehensive prevention and treatment services for abused children and families.

Throughout her life, Yvette has answered the call of public service. I am grateful that she has done so once again.

This is the first step of a long journey. Like just about every state, Ohio has been hit by an economic storm that started on Wall Street and hit us harder than anything we’ve seen in our lifetime. And though the problem wasn’t our creation, the solutions will be.

I am running for re-election because Ohio needs leadership committed to our children and our future. That’s a commitment Yvette has demonstrated throughout her life. With your commitment and your help, I have no doubt that we’ll make Ohio stronger than ever.
